hey guys its been a while since i've posted on here, i've been giving my subs a break over winter but i do have a question about my decks display, when i am driving on the highway at night my deck seems just blindingly bright and i was wondering if there was any way i could hook it up to the dimmer for my dash lights, or if there was some sort of aftermarket dimmer i could wire into the harness to control how bright my deck is. my deck is an alpine from a couple years back i think its the alpine cda-7893, but i'm not sure. its the one with the motorized flip face plate and is xm ready but it isn't an mp3 player. thanks for any info you might have.

Tube up your install manual and look to see if there is a display dinner wire avilable in the harness. This is often ORANGE and should have a tab saying it is the dimmer.

The install manual will show you the wiring leads to tap off for the dimmer circuit to work off your panel light dimmer control.

Another possible option, if your HU does not have a dimmer line, would be to mask it with some medium light blocking window masking materials.

Finally, some HU's have a menu feature to change the illumination of the display. The manual would cover that as well, if your HU has that feature.
