Hard to explain, but very good rythms with an array of various styles. Excellent music to travel to and or even audition systems on. Check out any of "Thievery Corporation" albums. Some songs can be sampled on MSN Music. jazzbass on 01/21/2006 05:22:30 Trippy stuff, Ash, I like it. Sort of psychedellic meets electronica, with a little jazz thrown in. I'll have to pick up a disc. I've been getting into Bela Fleck and the Flecktones lately. I don't know why it took me so long to check them out. Phenomenal creativity in the mix of genres from Bluegrass to Jazz to World music. Impossible to categorize it. For all you bass fans, Victor Wooten, the bassist for this band is a true master. Victor... Ash on 01/21/2006 19:14:34 Haven't heard that one! Pretty catchy. T.C.'s music styles varies alot. It's like a mix of electronica, jazz, hip hop, dub reggae. Very ADDICTING!... Even musically shallow minded people can dig into it for a little. I've got a decent collection of that kinda stuff, which sometimes I sit and do a long, hard search for. After finding a group or song, I do an ear test of the music to see if it fits into the genre or close to it. Like it says.... Audio Junkie..... bongocorral on 01/22/2006 05:58:58 Hey are any of you here alt-country fans? Give me a holler if you are and have heard some bands i should check out. here's some things i suggest guy Davis...Legacy........traditional blues Uncle Tupelo ........March 16 - 20, 1992.......acustic alt country Drive By Truckers......Decoration Day..........Rockin alt counrty Whiskeytown.........Strangers Almanac....Ryan Adams before he was popular Neil Young ....Greendale........Rockin Neil, his best effort in years Steve Earl...........Transcendental Blues........thoughtful country Kathleen Edwards.....Failer.......great singer-song writer stuff Lucinda Williams.........anything she's done....she knows how to wite a song!!!!! Hey Jazzbass, what Bela Fleck albums do you suggest? I've seen him on the tube a few times, he's got to be the best living mandellin player I've heard lately, well maybe David grisman still is. Have you ever seen the movie Grateful Dawg? Its' home movies of Jerry Garcia and David Grisman.....they do a song on there called Araiba...it's kind of a folkie jazz number.....if you like Bela Fleck you'd love that tune. jazzbass on 01/22/2006 12:12:30 Bongocorral, if you want a good overview of their stuff, pick up "Greatest Hits of the 20th Century". Another good disc is "Live at the Quick". The live album is cool because it has some some cool solos (Bela Fleck playing Bach on a banjo...) and a guy named Congar Ol'Ondar doing some Tibetan throat singing. Very creative stuff.
