We'll decided since I was redoing the whole truck with more Sound Quality in mind than SPL I decided to get some new components. The CDT CL-61T 6.5" set that I've been running were a nice upgrade from the Infinity's i was running at the time, But they lacked in MidBass and the Titanium Tweet was just to harsh for my ears . Went and purchased a set of Diamond Audio D6 components (D661S). 6.5" with a Silk Tweeter rather than aluminum. Just recieved them today and they look sweet =). The Woofer has a beefy structure and the Xover looks very good. Its huge haha. I'm going to start the kickpanels for them, and I'm going to use these as the set for the Door Panel modification if it turns out good. Build pics of the KickPanels comming when I have time. I'll make it a tutorial as long as the pictures will work. -PL Replies (7) Victor on 01/13/2006 20:15:03 CDT is definitely above average product.. but there are many out there that are better, its just the price difference that make cdt better, cause of the price / performance ratio ( this is a very imp aspect of car audio manufacturing and marketing.) Victor.. MrBrownstone on 01/13/2006 20:31:09 The CL line is their base model line. The HD and ES are their top of the line. Lack midbass? Might be an installation issue. Tell us a little more about your installation. The hookup is 90% of the sound. P0werLifter on 01/13/2006 20:31:46 The CDT's were a great upgrade for the price I paid for the performance, but as you know, the farther along in car audio you get, the more critical your ear becomes to minor differences and changes in sound than the newbie car audio enthusiest. The Diamond D6's run $409 retail, I got them for $238 shipped so it was a great buy. There is also a nifty way to Bi-Amp these by changing something on the woofer. Not going to take the time to explain it but its cool. I'm excited to try a different product and i hear great things about diamond. I've also got the Adire Koda 8" laying around, might buy another one and put them in the door panel im making instead of the Diamonds just to see how it would sound for MB performance. P0werLifter on 01/13/2006 20:33:50 The CDT's were in kickpanels that I purchased a while back, and they were ran of an Alpine MRV-F450 5 Channel amplifier. swez on 01/13/2006 21:08:06 Kicks are a nice add to some systems. But they generally are too small an enclosure to get optimal MB from them because of the enclosure size. Also, after listening to a few metal tweets from a distance and close up, they are so bright, efficient and "hot", w/o extensive EQ, they can rip your ears off and make you wanna stick a sock in them. That's been my experience to date anyway, Swez P0werLifter on 01/14/2006 02:59:18 Swez, Think I should build kicks or put these in the stock door positions? I think the Kickpanel would be a good spot for them for imaging but not sure about MB performance. Ideas? swez on 01/14/2006 12:26:53 Am thinking a 2-way Diamond system could be the solution here. The kicks for MR/TW and doors for MB. A pair of 8" Koda's might be a nice touch here. (have 1 now right?) Bi-amping would be advisable. The MR would cross at ~300 Hz and up. The MB would be your 80-300 Hz., players. The subs will handle the rest. An active crossover seems to be a very good fit for this scenario. Here, we get very good imaging from 300 - 18KHz. The MR/TW have good separation, and require limited low freq response from same. MB would be good, low in the doors or even behind the front seats. There's not much imaging needed in the 80-300 Hz., range. So, either way you slice it, it works! Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
