Hello all, I was on here a few weeks back asking how to wire the subs and all and I got everything up and running excellent HAPPY thanks to everyone that contributed. Now the time comes to ask another question... I want to get a seperate amp for the speakers themselves and I was wondering what to do with the power cable. would i be able to connect the new amp power cable to the existing amp, or do i have to run it up to the battery again?? thanks again Replies (3) P0werLifter on 01/11/2006 16:58:27 If you dont already have a distrobution block, buy one. All it does is have one power wire comming back from the battery to the distrobution block then from the distrobution block, you connect your amplifier power wires. For example: you run 4gauge wire from the battery back to the distrobution block. The distrobution block has one four gauge input, and breaks it down to three eight gauge outputs. You would then run one eight gauge wire from the distrobution block to one amplifier, and connect another eight gauge wire from the distrobution block to the other amplifier. Pretty simple, and effective. -PL Victor on 01/11/2006 17:13:46 Yes using the right accessories is so important in an install.. It makes it easy, fast, and neat.. Also, the 4-gauge wire running from the BAT will be fused next to the BAT, but without fusing at the distribution block you are counting on the fusing of the amp itself to protect the 8-gauge wire, a potential catastrophic bet depending on how it shorts. And a non-fused distribution for the ground is handy as well. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
