I just installed a used pioneer amp in my car and it doesnt work. I had a volt meter and tested and say that all the volts are there but no power light. I thought bad amp, so i went out and bought a new different pioneer amp. Still no power, but the volt meter shows that its getting there. Replies (8) compvr15s on 01/7/2006 00:23:29 make sure you are using the rigth lead on the head unit for the remote wire... blue with white line, other is for power antenna... quick test is to run a lil jumper wire from the postive terminal to the remote terminal, if you amp starts perfoming correct, have an issue with the remote cable more than likely you are just using the wrong lead off of the head unit, if this doesnt help then lets us know and we can look into some other things. ph0en1x on 01/7/2006 00:39:47 Thank you a bunch, that helps, the power comes on. But instead of hooking up my inputs through the stereo, i tapped into the back speaker wires and will riun them to my amp. Ithink thats ok, and if that works is there any place to put the remote wire so i dont have to put it in the car stereo. I so hard to get the dash off my car, and i cant get to the stereo. anybody know how. compvr15s on 01/7/2006 00:59:22 oh your not using an aftermarket head unit(pioneer-alpine-clairon-sony)? Ash on 01/7/2006 08:22:42 I would suggest getting an aftermarket HU to simplify any further upgrades that you might decide to make. This will also improve the sound quality and capabilities of the system you are trying to build. ph0en1x on 01/7/2006 11:57:21 thr only problem with getting a new head unit, is the way the rivs are set up. They have a radio and all the contols like a/c on top and a separate cd player on the bottom. Anybody know how to work with that. Also anyone know how to get the dash off my car Ash on 01/7/2006 14:17:09 Well that is a doosy! I have seen the problem in which your faced with on a new HU. Check this website's forum and maybe some of the guys there can give advice on what will fit and what products they used in replacing the HU.
