Well, I just ordered my subs amp and am waiting to install (also waiting for couple more of my questions to be answered on the forum). I'd like to say I would never have been able to get to this point without the people on this forum. One of the best things on the net. Thank you for everything up till now and no doubt for the future help coming. To the point then. Before I buy all my installation goodies, I just wanted CK to see my floor plan and if anyone sees something wrong. Just a screen test, and I plan to get very detailed (warning). Equipment 2 Audiobahn Alum12Q powered by the Hifonics BX2005D Alpine SPS-100A Coaxial set running off of HU power Alpine SPS-171A powered by PerformanceTeknique ICMB771 Okay, I'll start with the charging system. I have a high CCA rated battery but a stock alternator. The Big 3 will be upgraded to 2 gauge and a 2 gauge will be run to a distrobution block. From there 8 gauge to both amps. Same set up for grounding. Subs will be hooked up parallel/parallel in sealed enclosure. Frequency Filters Subs: 80 lo pass Components:70 hi pass 4 inch speakers: 200-300 bass blocker Uncertaintees Should I replace all my stock speaker wires, and what gauge? When connecting my components to my amp, Do I go from the amp to my crossovers to my speakers? Replies (11) compvr15s on 01/6/2006 06:13:19 only thing i would change is the 8awg wire from distro to amps, it should be fine for the ICBM771, but the hifonix would probably be better suited with 4awg wire... will only cost an extra few bucks for a couple of feet of 4awg... use the same for grounding(4awg) just make sure you prep the surface before grounding... for the components you are right just go from amp to xover then to speakers. very simple(xover should be labled input/woofer/tweeter--or something along that line) running new wire for the comps to the amp is a must unless you can patch into the existing wire, as for the other speakers going to the head unit factory wire will be just fine... strife on 01/6/2006 06:21:55 4 awg is what I wanted to do originally, but I couldn't find a convenient distro block, could u suggest one. O yeah, also, what size split loom tubing goes with those wires? compvr15s on 01/6/2006 06:26:27 http://knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=BC-1024 for the distro block, may want to look on ebay for something that is similar, but this would do the trick http://knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNF-12 strife on 01/6/2006 06:33:06 what gauge speaker wire should I get for the components? strife on 01/6/2006 06:34:44 O yeah, would anyone happen to know the fuse ratings on those two amps? compvr15s on 01/6/2006 06:47:25 id say the hifonics is probably 140-160amps and i think the other amp was 30 amps... could not find specs that listed the hifonics amp ttocs on 01/6/2006 09:11:14 140-160? I'll have to see it. If it is easy and convinient to replace the wires(maybe in the rear) go for it. Running wires through doors how ever can be a royal pain..... strife on 01/6/2006 11:47:46 Is there anything wrong with running your ground and power wires together? strife on 01/6/2006 12:17:18 Is there really a need to upgrade speaker wires? Shouldn't the ones that come with the speakers be good enough? strife on 01/6/2006 12:34:24 I juz opened up my crossovers and there is an attentuator. It says 0, -3, -6. What should I put it on given the Performance Teknique amp? compvr15s on 01/6/2006 15:33:40 ttocs i was just guessing on the fuse rating of the hifonics amp, 2000 watts, has to be a pretty big fuse rating id imagine.... as for the attentautor leave that alone for now, can change that later if needed, if the tweeters sound a lil bright...
