How long has this site been around?
Whats its history? What is its future, mission statement, vision?

Also, at the bottom of the page, behind each user name is a number in brackets , what does that mean?

I wish I could answer all of you questions, but this site is Walt's site.

What I do know is that this site, Club knowledge, has been around at least since 1999, possibly 1998, and the history has been quite interesting.

We were originally formatted like a text only bulletin board forum...little or no graphics, and NO PASSWORDS. you could pretend you were Swez, and noone would truly know. It was 2 colors, and a lot of off color remarks. Swez, Walt & I, and a few guys like: Sharky, Zuki, and a few others were the old school people on this mother.

Future, mission, vision, you'd have to ask Walt. I know we all hope to keep this forum up, and if not, we have a backup site...which we've had to use in a number of occasions, as We don't really generate a who lot of dough for the owner.

Number in brackets? Couldn't tell ya.

swez on 01/4/2006 20:04:19
The brackets with names, tell who is logged into the site and for how long. If you see a (1) or (0), it means the logger is active on the site. If the numbers are larger, (3) or higher, they are off to other lands and did not log out of CK.

Vision statement? To provide quality solutions, careful research, a good knowledge base and learning to do it with excellence.

As B said, this board was very different in 1999. We had very few tools, not much in FAQ's, no graphics and a limited readership. Thanks to Walter Hargrave, we now have a wide array of tools and graphics avialable. This has attracted some very sharp peeps too. We now have pro installers, Techs, fabricators, audiophiles and lots of hungry readers.

The long standing members that are still current to CK are Mr. Brownstone, ttocs (The blad installer) and myself. (Old Man Audio) We all met here in 1999 and have been pretty active at this and another site for 6.5 years. Why? We like it. (I guess) It feels great to learn and teach/help others. We get no $$$ compensation here. Just personal satisfaction and place to hang out.

The future: Any bodies guess bud. The main thing I see, keep this site well funded so Walter does not have to take the whole bite. In fact, it's time to call in a few markers and fill up the donation pail to pay for bandwidth and site upgrades.

um, make that the "bald" installer.

I got on here while trying to fill break time at a new job. I installed for a few places up until college. When I graduated I was burned out on the industry and happy to get a job related to my major, and out of the bay. I once again enjoy installing and helping people, I sometimes help a local place out when they need help.

I have had a few questions answered here, but for the most part us old timers give alot more then we recieve. We have had the site shut down once and while but it always started right back up with everyone.

Whats your story JMB?

BgDustin4 on 01/5/2006 20:27:03

swez on 01/5/2006 23:01:16
Sorry ttocs, I truly meant "The Bald Installer" !!! Just a typo... but I did not forget to mention your name like "some other guy" did earlier. I won't name names, but his intials are: Mr. Brownstone

Kuddo's to that balding guy in AZ. It's certainly been a pleasure, getting to know you all these years bud!

Swez

PS Dustin, I am that old bud. Older than dirt, wise like a monkey and like to help folks get er done well the 1st time out. It's OK to get older. We tend to forget more than we once knew. Now, where did I put my reading glasses???

ttocs on 01/6/2006 09:13:32
look up, they are probably on your head.

swez on 01/6/2006 15:32:44
Hehehe, that's happened more than once. Is the mind starting to go or what? GRIN

Swez

ttocs on 01/6/2006 20:13:03
that is supposed to be the second thing, or is it the third to go???

MrBrownstone on 01/7/2006 02:02:50
Swez

The following are things you lose with age:

10. Hair
9. Good looks (if you had any)
8. Girlish Figure
7. Ability to get out of jail because you're not legal yet
6. Virginity
5. Speed
4. Memory
3. Erectile Function
2. Memory
1. Control of bowel movement

END RANT

ttocs on 01/7/2006 09:45:31
you must have forgotten that you put memory twice. Are you on step 4 or 2 now, and are we starting from the top down of bottom up? Obviously I would be passed step 10, is it the beginning er the end?

MrBrownstone on 01/8/2006 00:03:31
Depends....

swez on 01/8/2006 12:13:59
"Depends" are actually part of step 10. When one gets there, there are products to help out.

Let's see... I seem to have crossed over the line on the following items:

9, 8, 6, 5, 4 & 2. Numbers 4 and 2 are duplicates, so we have to replace one of them with another variable. In any case, am 5 for 10 or still batting "500". That would make one a millionaire in baseball, basketball, hockey and football.

If in the stock market, poker, lotto, sales & gambling of all kinds etc., we'd break even. Better than losing, but still not a great place to be.

OK loudmouth, what's your numbers list? Ante up sucka!

I know !!! We can just chalk this one up to experience and start a fresh year. Even though some things don't work like they used to, we still have something left to fall back on. Mine is a comfy chair, a hot cup of coffee (or a cold case of beer, depending) and a few great friends. Do we really "need" much more than that? Errr, I dunno?

"all I ever wanted, all I ever needed, is here in my arms"

MrBrownstone on 01/8/2006 18:30:23
I'm fresh out of 10, 6 and 5.

swez on 01/9/2006 11:57:21
Could have stopped at the phrase... "I'm fresh out" and we'd have the picture needed.

When's the last time you did a "sound check" on #'s 8,4 & 3? lol

Swez

PS Good to hear your cheerie, dulcid tones again. Good luck on your interviews thie week and next. Go get em boy!

MrBrownstone on 01/10/2006 21:26:57
Hey Swez

Now I'm 'just a gigolo' here. I have 8 interviews, 2 pending offers (background checks) and a lot of decisions to make.

As you know, in sales, you have 2 types of companies:

100% leads, low commission
0% leads, 100% commission.

Any other company is simply a varying degree of both. In my case, I'm traversing different industries, therefore, I need some 'guarantee' until I am confident that I'll make it. Now, I'm looking at 7 or 8 different industries to boot.

ahhhhh, pimpin' loans was so easy.
