1997 olds cutlass supreme

I've done the google searches, I've looked everywhere I can think of and still cannot find all the info needed to install a Pioneer DEH-P4400 cd player in my Olds. Mainly what I need is which harness I need. I think I have the right one already, but I'm not sure. I've got the harness that was in a 1995 Chevy Corsica and a 1993 Geo Tracker. I'm pretty sure the one that was in the Corsica would work in my Olds, but I found conflicting information about which harness to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, so the one I have out of the Corsica won't work in my Olds, is what I get from that? Yes, the second link is the harness that was in the Corsica.

correct if the one in your corsica looks like the 2nd link it will not work... the link the the first one is the one you need, should be able to find at walmart or any local stereo shop in your area, under 20 buck, will save a boat load of time and hassle.

Thank you for helping clear that up for me.
Next question:
Can anyone recommend a good, inexpensive amp to power 2 12" Pyle PLW12BL subs? Right now I have a Legacy 2 600w 4-ch amp. I could bridge it and get some extra bump that way, but with the age of the amp I'm not sure I wanna try that. I know, they're not great speakers but for what I listen to and the amount of time, or lack thereof, I spend in my car, they're fine for me. I just wish I knew the RMS. Peak is listed at 800w, but that doesn't help.

usally peak is twice the rms amount but id hate to see what 400 watts would do to those woofers, id bet 100-150 watts rms at the most per sub, so a solid 300-400 watt amp would do tha trick... all i seen was single 4omh voice coils, so a net of 2omhs on a class d amp giving off 400 watts is going to be very easy and inexpensive... let me do some quick looking be back with a post in 2-5mins

Thank you so much. I'm not really new to the car audio scene, but I started installing my own systems back in the late 80's, so it was simpler back then hehe. The amp I have right now is a Legacy Series II LA 720. Think it would be OK to use that, bridged?

audiobahn, 2channel amp, 200watts@4omh x 2 channel..

here are a few to look at, all under 150 bucks, and all will be able to power a single sub or a small dual sub combo in the future as well... if your subs take a poop on ya and ya feel the need for more bass these amps here will still deliver a good amount of pure unclipped power to give the new sub(s) the power they need.

Thanks a ton, compvr15s. But, how would the amp I have now do? Legacy Series II LA720 4-ch 600w, 2 ohm stable. Beyond that, I don't really know the rest of the specs on it.

compvr15s on 01/2/2006 23:12:37
legacy tends to over rate thier products, but i see no reason why you could not use this amp for those subs... you could bridge it down to a 2challen set up, and run a sub of each bridged channel, id say prolly 150 watts rms at the most from this amp when bridged but should still do the trick...

morgstormhammer on 01/2/2006 23:16:29
Thank you again. Now...I asked a couple friends, quite a while back, about bridging that amp. I just never got around to it. However, each person gave me different instructions on how to bridge it, i.e. what wires go where. I'm searching for that right now, but if you have any tips for me I'd appreciate it.

compvr15s on 01/2/2006 23:21:08
from my knowledge its usually (+)pos of the left channel and (-)neg of the right channel... most amps will have this labeled either on the back of the amp with a sticker deal, or right above the speaker terminals where you wire your speakers.... i could not find a manual for the amp but most amps all do it the same way
