Has anyone ever heard of a front wheel drive car pulling hard to the left but not because of the alignment. I changed the left transaxle and everything went as smooth as it possibly could. any ideas? anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated Replies (8) halfasss101 on 01/2/2006 02:51:58 hello swez on 01/2/2006 07:34:37 Not really a car repair site here, mostly car audio and off topic humor. There are several things that can cause this pulling: 1. Low tire pressure 2. Sticky brake caliper on left front 3. Weak strut or damaged one 4. Worn lower ball joint 5. Worn tire, rotate them to rear If only on rapid accelleration, you may have a weak or broken engine mount too. It may be a good idea to have alignment checked again. A few degrees off, is all ya need to get pulling issues. Good luck, Swez ttocs on 01/2/2006 11:27:08 torq-steer? halfasss101 on 01/2/2006 14:43:17 yes torque steer. Only under throttle Ash on 01/2/2006 18:20:09 If it ever has been wrecked, some unseen damage may cause that as well. Now what kinda subs are you runnin??!!!! halfasss101 on 01/2/2006 19:02:50 If u mean subwoofers, i have 4 Rockford Fosgate 12 inch subwoofers with a Rockford Fosgate Punch amp putting out 1800 watts. ttocs on 01/3/2006 10:53:06 torq steer is common on performance front wheel drives. I have seen it in imports and domestic cars. swez on 01/3/2006 15:31:13 Right, they all have that issue to some degree. (FWD units) But if it has gotten notably worse, have a buddy watch the motor for excessive torque as you rev the motor. This works best while in gear and brake applied firmly. Have your buddy stand to each side, (NOT IN FRONT) of the car as you do this test. He is looking at the motor mounts for flex or even a broken one. If the motor seems to rise up and drop with torque, either a weak or broken mount here. (Common on older cars that have been driven harder than granny would ever try) If you hear or feel a "clunk" when getting off the gas, sure sign of a broken motor mount. Comments?
