Heres some pictures of the current build im doing in my truck. Nothing fancy, just bare MDF. Going to try different enclosures, woofers, mounting positions etc for Sound Quality, and SPL purposes. Hopefully will be finished my monday. After build is done I'm going to delete the thread to cutdown the bandwidth usage.

Everything ripped out, Like my Boom Box? yup thats all I've got for stereo right now GRIN. And yes, thats all 0 guage wiring

Floor Build up, all wiring including distrobution blocks will be underneath this. Holes will be drilled so the wiring will pop up straight to the amplifiers for a nice clean look

I love it!!! GRIN That puny lil radio in the back is one priceless picture. LOL Looks a lot like the one I use in Florida, out on the patio.

PL, your fabrication work is getting better all the time. I'd like to see you write a few tuitorials for our DIY part of the forum.

The XXX looks like a chopped midget next to the H2.

Going sealed this time around?

Got home from work tonight after dark and decided since it wasnt raining anymore, Id get some work done. Got some coffee and went outside to get to work.

Started by gluing and using a nailgun to put the base together for the floor. Nice and solid, then put the top on and started to mockup. After mockup, mounted and wired in the distrobution blocks for the power and grounds

Should I keep the enclosure on the passengers side? or put it on the drivers side? If i put it on the drivers side I wont have to cross any power lines over any RCA's

BTW, thanks Swez I've e-mailed Walt about doing some Tutorials with pictures and its possible to do. Little more work involved but will be more helpful for people to see.

As far as my enclosure type, I wanted to try sealed again and see how I liked it. Its been over a year since Ive ran it, and ever since I did that install in the mustang Ive had the itch to try sealed again.

If I dont like it, It'll be very easy to just build another enclosure and throw it in.

Very nice work you do PL.I would put the sub behind the driver's seat to avoid any interference. Are you gonna carpet all that or leave it be?Let me ask you this, I too am currently building a box and was wondering what the best thing to use to make the carpet stick? I've used 3M spray adhesive and similar brands but in the summer when the trunk heats up the carpet comes off.I was thinking maybe gorilla glue might work?Anything else?

P0werLifter on 01/1/2006 02:56:00
Thanks =). I'm most likely just going to leave it plain MDF for now. I'm going to be trying different positions and enclosures alot trying to find the sweet spot for my SPL gains. Nothing pretty, but functional. If I find what I like and dont want to compete anymore, I'll probably go back do doing a full fiberglass/mdf install like my last one but more tricked out but for now, plain, simple, and functional will do the job.

As far as adhesives, I usually just use 3m spray. You might try Gorilla glue, but not sure how well it'll work. Ever try throwing some more staples into it?

Got home from work tonight and decided to get everything prepped for installation tomorrow. Brought the top piece of the floor in and started drilling the holes for the wires. Tomorrow just have to run the wires through the floor along with the RCA's, drop in the enclosure and the sub, then wire it up. Game on!

Its been raining here for the past 3 days so its sucked. Tomorrow everything is going in Rain or Shine, i need beat back in my truck haha.

" Shishkabob thats some thick wire! Does anyone else in here feel turned on? Haha! Im SO jealous"

The Orion 2500d requires two 4guage Power Wires, and two 4guage Ground wires. Pretty sweet eh? But makes for more of a hassle to wire in haha.

I get all warm and fuzzy inside looking at big ol wires going to amps and subs too

What ever happened to the concept of "Less is more"? GRIN

Very nice touch here PL. Very clean layout. Simple and too the point too. Hope you like the sealed box here.

Annon: May not be using enough spray glue here. We have to spray the carpet a bit heavy to get best results. Also, give the glue a few minutes to setup, before you slam things together. It may help to roll your carpet tight to the wood. I use a laminate roller or a large soup can.

Finished the install yesterday =) Took me all day to do it since I 4got to buy one little spade connector for 4guage wiring. (the piece i needed to hook the wire to my Alpine 4channel amp). Drove around for about 2 hours looking for a shop that had one.

After it was all said and done, I'm pleased with the performance of the sub. I threw in some heavy metal and it was able to keep up with the kick drums and sounded awesome. Only thing I'm miffed about is I have to re-run the RCA's from the HU back when I have time. When I put in my Audio Control Epic-160 I had my RCA's run some funky way and with the length of RCA's I had to use the one that was hooked up to my subwoofer to go to the Apline, and the RCA's that went to my Alpine, now to go my Orion. Well, when I turn up the Subwoofer level on my HU my Components turn up haha. Not a huge issue, still sounds good but needs to be re-ran when i have time.

Now onto the pictures =)

Very good setup here. Too bad you don't have the Audio Control Three.1 as well. It has many features that would make wiring both amps a piece of cake and give you fingertip control over Master volume, Fade and Sub outputs.

It requires only 2 inputs, but gives 6 outputs, 4 band EQ and 24dB/oct active full range and sub crossovers. This allows you to Bi-amp your mids and highs. That's as good as it gets! No passive crossovers compare to Bi-amped systems. This unit also provides 13 volts with the line driver.

The only thing I am not sure of, is if it has both balance line outs or common RCA's or both??? I'm not pitching it as that you need it, but the features sure make it easy to do many good things from the dash mounting location. Have a look:

Looks good =) But I was actually looking at the Audio Control MATRIX Line Driver. 6 RCA Outs since I've already got a Arc Audio 30band Equalizer chillin in my room for when I want to put it in.
(Im waiting till I can buy the TermLab Sensor with the RTA so I can set it)
