Just browsing as usual and ran across this beast: http://cgi.ebay.com/WORLDS-LARGEST-CAR-AMPLIFIER-JBL-GTI-6000-8-000W-RMS_W0QQitemZ5847355286QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting What in the heck would someone in their right mind want with that?!! Replies (9) pigwiggle on 12/30/2005 12:59:56 This looks like the same one pictured on the JBL website. http://www.jbl.com/car/featured/team/default.aspx?Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA Yah, it's this guy. http://www.jbl.com/car/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=A6000GTI&cat=AMP&ser=GTI swez on 12/30/2005 13:46:58 That amp is old news as it has been out for almost 3 years now. Yes, it's a real monster too. JBL Car Audio hooked up their sister company (Crown Intl.) to design and build this beast. It has many of the same hallmark features as the Pro Series Crown amps, but designed for 14.4 volts operation. This amp has enough voltage/current output to run 120 volt power tools. hehe One can easily bust a gut installing one and shatter your guts to listen at close range. What will they think of next? Swez MrBrownstone on 12/30/2005 13:53:25 You know they say (about cars, stereos, and the like) that it's just compensation for not having a very large....err...... Sorry, misread the post USFLAG Ash on 12/30/2005 15:07:17 Well, its the first time I ever laid eyes on it and I tell you it's just plain silly. Unbelievable how a good company could even think to affiliate themselves with such. That just goes to show how marketing is the devil of car audio. compvr15s on 12/30/2005 19:17:20 http://www.maxxsonics.com/hifonics/ampsnew_maxxgol.html hifonics has some huge amps too, not sure of the size but @10,000 watts i could only imagine how much it costs... that jbl amp makes that guy look tiny lol. Ash on 12/30/2005 23:16:05 With power like that, in the middle of the night, I bet you could make the neighbors think that it is the end of the world! compvr15s on 12/31/2005 05:23:47 lol back in the day when i was 16 just got into stereo equipment i remember trying to disturb the whole town, now i look back its nothing to be proud of.... but i do remember this one night i was with a buddy and we were just riding around, we decided to go into the upidy part of town where they think everything of thiers smells like roses... if memory serves i had 2 kicker 12inch L7 solos and two kicker kx600.1s... back then easily the loudest sytem around here(most expensive too) but anyway i popped my trunk and started at one end of the main road and put the car in drive, coasted down the road playing a few of my favorite bass tracks... LOL i bet atleast 3/4s of the house lights came on....now when im sittin at home watching tv or just hanging with my family and have a car go by with the system up i get a little un easy about it for some reason...so i look back and feel sorry for those people cuz my system would easily shake my house from a half a block to a block away.... couldnt imagine a system like powerlifters coming through lol, out houses would prolly fall apart... swez on 12/31/2005 07:10:39 "We all do dumb things... but paying too much for... errrr, wrong commercial. Geico has marketed the heck out of car insurance, Capitol One ("What's in your wallet") and Di-Tech ads that put the fear of rising interest rates, in our faces every 15 minutes on cable, show us the true power of repeatative marketing campaigns. I believe JBL/Crown made this one, just to prove they are still a BIG player in all that is audio. Well, they pulled it off and for those in the SPL Competition arena have jumped aboard. "Team Gates" (Dear ol Alma) has a JBL Comps entry and Kicker too. Have a look: http://www.teamgates.org/bronco_2004.html http://www.teamgates.org/mike_bartells.html http://www.teamgates.org/bronco.html http://www.teamgates.org/mark_eldridge.html I agree with you Comp VR. As I chill for the night and starting to doze off, some fool comes down the street past midnight, bassin' up the neighborhood. I'd like to find out who it is and where he lives. Then pay him a visit with my trust chainsaw in hand. " Hey nit-wit, do that again, and I will happily cut your car to pieces". LOL Better still, 3 or 4 of the biggest guys I know, all armed with saws, sledge hammers and pick axes. I think he'd get the message. How's that for Vigilanty justice? If Joe-Law won't fix this problem, we'll be happy to. hehehe Have a nice day! GRIN Swez P0werLifter on 12/31/2005 14:25:27 LoL Comp, my system may be pretty loud, but between the time I 1st got into car audio, and to the point I am now, you learn that its not just "how loud" you can get driving down the road. Only people that get impressed at "how loud" you can get are the people that dont know jack about car audio haha. Dont get me wrong, I love to compete in SPL competitions, and it takes alot of hard work and dedication to pull high numbers we all aspire to get, but that is a different ball game than daily driver street beater =). I'm respectful of other drivers when im "rollin" down the street. I allways turn it down at stoplights, and in residential areas. He'll. I've got enough sound deadening in my truck right now that its hard to hear the bass outside when I have it cranked. Right now ive got the system ripped out and laying in my house. Redoing the whole thing to put my H2 in haha. I'm already filling the backside of panels, along with all the holes in the body metal with expanding foam to really make the cab solid so there will be minimal flexing. When I become a Sheriff, Excessive Noise rule will be played out, within reason ofcourse. -PL Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
