hi ya'll.....new member here, nice site...i'm new to install process. I plan to install a new stereo in my 95 f250 pickup.
nakamichi mbIV head
polk c400,4 amp
polk mmc 6500 front
polk mmc579 rear

i have two questions
1) anyone have feedback on the Nakamichi head unit? does it play cd/r's
2) does it matter where inline the crossovers are placed? Can I place the front crossovers behind the bench seat? or should they been closer to the speakers? Does the placement of the crossover effect sound quality? Obviously it requires more wire, the closer the crossovers are to the amp. any other downsides?
Thanks much, Bongo Corral

the x-overs can go where ever you want. If you put them in the rear, you will need to run a new set of wires into the door. You can mount it in the door as long as it will be dry and be able to get some air to cool. It often takes a little bit of time to place them and run the wires but is easier then running wire into the door. You need to make sure the the window will still be able to move freely, so make sure you tie the wires up and rout them out of the way of the window.

He's got a good plan. Some mount x-overs under the dash, in doors, kick panels or near the amps. Just make sure they stay dry and have adequate airflow around them. At higher power levels, these tend to get a mite warm. Also, if you run longer lines, use larger speaker cables (#12-14 gage) Less resistance that way and you won't lose too much signal to high resistance wires.

PS Nak HU huh? Very nice piece of gear. Not much info on that HU off Google either. Try one and see if it works?

I mount them under the dash because there's so much dead/useless space there.

PS Prev Nak's didn't allow you to use CDRWs, etc.
