Have an 87 Subaru GL I am trying to retrofit with a new sony radio/cd. Looks like a pretty straight forward task if I can overcome the most formidable task--figuring out the factory installed harness wiring. (Of course, it doesn't match the harness that came with the new radio). Is there source out there to determine this? i.e. diagram of what wire goes where, it's color, it's identity or what location it is in the original harness?

You have to go out and buy a wire harness for your car. It hooks up to the factory harness. Then u just match up those wires from the new harness with the ones coming from ur radio. The wires should be labeled if not it will tell which ones or what on the box of the new wire harness. Did i answer ur ? right or did i miss something?
