Pioneer?

Well, due to lack of available parts that will fit in this dang Blazer, I am wondering should I go with some Pioneer comps in the front. Along with that I want to use some matching 5.25's coaxials in the rear as well as 4x6 plates in the dash. If anyone has any experience with any of these particular models, please respond. I'm trying to keep all of them in the same line with similar attributes.

I'm not sure if the plates will fit (shallow dash depth). If not then I'll opt for these:

If Price is not a factor then Polk has some really good 4x6 and 4" plates
the db line has 90db + sensitivity so u can get louder with less power,

I have used the pioneer components u mentioned as well as the 5.25" coaxs, they are ok for the price but definitely not that crisp and clear as expected.

Also I have been doing a lot of Blau and Boy they sure have some great sounding components and shallow speakers. Especially the Velocity,THA and the OD line. Even MTX, MA and JBL have some good set of odd sized speakers.

Some how I have never liked the Pioneer speakers cause they sound a bit muddy and the highs are really shrill. Thoug I use a lot of them in the installs I do cause they are very cheap out here in India and are easy to sell to low budget consumer.

here are a few u can consider as an option

Here is the problem that I keep running into with this shallow dash:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cuEJiVWxKQp/cgi-bin/prodgroup.asp?a=1&c=3&s=0&g=400&fit=&size=&cc=01

Out of the entire stock, including 3.5's, this is all Crutchfield carries that will fit!! I won't even bother going elsewhere until I know exactly how much room I have to play with. Does anyone have a full catalog with the speaker fit chart? If so, give me the specs for my dash- 91 Chevy S10 Blazer 4 door.

If the dash wasn't so crucial in this vehicle, I would skip it. I tried my setup with/without it utilizing the stock speakers. Without it, the midrange drops to the floor, even with the comp tweets up high. Just not enough richness up high for a good soundstage. I thought about kickpanels, but with a size 14 foot, theres no room (Don't Laugh)! That's why I thought about the Pioneers, I know they should be thin enough. But since you say they aren't that good, that will be a no-go.

Only other options is a overly expensive 4x6 set, then I will have to go all same line elsewhere for tonal balance (very pricy). Not too fond of that one.

Next option, which might be the only other way to go, is to fab some abs panels that will take the stock grill's place. Then a set could be top mounted to get the extra clearance. Not a very stealthy mount, but at this point there's not many more options.
