well i scrapped the bimmer and rodeo and got a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg Edition. it's sweet. setup so far: alpine 9847 head unit (already installed) 6.5 inch diamond audio components boston acoustics G2 subwoofer - 12 inch couple alpine amps - 4 channel for the comps, 300 watts for the sub. think this will work?? trunk has split rear folding seats, but is SOLID when folded up. very little bass gets through, and the speakers are in the back doors so there are no factory holes in the back deck whatsoever. any suggestions?? -UK Replies (5) Ash on 12/14/2005 03:30:16 One of my partners had a first generation Neon that had the same problem. He tried everything and ended up having to cut a hole in the back deck and porting the sound thru. Needless to say I recommended a bandpass that was ported thru the deck but, instead he kept the 2 10" Bostwicks sealed. It sounded like crap! compvr15s on 12/14/2005 05:46:28 nice vehicle you got there... used to have a buddy with an 01 jetta... he liked the car alot other than this very noticable smell(was told that it was the sound dampening material they used under the carpet, cost like 600-700 to fix, warrenty didnt cover it for some reason but i guess it was a big issue) also had a few other minor problems that were all fixed for under 10-20 bucks like the center council clip broke.... as for the sound, i would imagine a type of venting like ash said would help... really dont know how well this would look but im sure with your skills you could do something custom and make it sound very nice too. good luck. hope ya like tha car. P0werLifter on 12/14/2005 21:33:03 Ever thought about having the rear seats modified by a upholstry shop? Ive seen a setup in a chevy pickup exteded cab where they did a blow through behind the rear seat. They cut out like a 1x2" section in the middle of the back section of the seat. It looked almost like a plug where they could put it in, and take it out as they pleased. Looked really clean and i think it would perform well in your situation if you didnt want to cut the rear deck. -PL Ash on 12/14/2005 22:04:27 That's a pretty good idea "PL". I hate to have to do a install on a situation like that. You're just not left with many options to go to, and tearin' up a nice ride just seems like a serious no-no. Not to be a copycat, but I would do a online search and see what others with a similiar ride had success with. At least you would know what route not to take and save yourself some headache. UKinstaller on 12/15/2005 22:17:11 yeah i really don't want to cut my deck. i might definitely check into modifying my seats. i love the car so far. it runs great, good gas mileage, and is pretty quick. i can't speak highly enough of the monsoon system. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
