I have been wanting new paint for my truck for a while, now with the bed cover on and the grill comming I am a little more interested. I have never had a vehicle painted before, I know I don't want the $199 ambasador paint but don't want to break the bank either. How much is an descent paint run on the average?

Look to spend about $400-500 minimum. That's with minimum prep (mostly scuffing and/or sanding) and same original color. It should include at least some type of protectant. Not a bad one to start with and shouldl look better and last longer than the $200 quickie.

that is what I figured. I need some minor body work as well and had budgeted $1k to get everything right...

I had a mid-grade MAACO paint job on my car done for around $600 I think. They did some prep work and it was the same color. It turned out pretty nice though.
