I'm looking for the lowest costing method to upgrade my alternator that doesn't sacrifice efficiency.

Cheapest option for higher amperage for the alternator is having a alternator shop around town rewind your alternator to provide higher amperes. The amound of amperage they can produce is based on the size of the case. Other than that you can check out different alternator companies such as Ohio Generators, Powermaster, GreenMachine, etc. Have you upgraded the big 3 wiring yet and upgraded your battery?
