Confused on this amplifier

Hey whats up guys, I'm getting ready to do this install and I was looking at the manual for this Infinity Reference 1210a mono block amplifier when I noticed it has 2 speaker outputs. Manual says its still a monoblock but they used 2 outputs for ease of installation.

Each woofer is SVC 4ohm, Originally I was going to wire them parallel to net a 2 ohm load but since the amp provides the RMS power at 4ohms It wouldnt matter either way

Now for the question, Since there are 2 output, BUT this is a monoblock amplifier, if i ran each woofer to each output, would it net a 4ohm, or 2ohm load? It would net a 2ohm load since its pretty much just a barrier strip correct? Opinions? I just want to know so i can set the gains to the correct voltage on the amp =)

i think you are totally correct, or i know thats how mxt's class D amps were and may still be... had two outputs. never did really see why some companies went this way and others went with just a single output... i think i even called mtx on this question when i was using one for a short time... they told me that i could use both or just one, the amp will read the correct ohmic value... good luck

I guess all Harman Kardon Amps have this, I just installed a JBL 601.1 and that has 2 sets of terminals too.

. and the manual says each set can take a minimum of 2 ohm load. But if its internally wired in parallel that would mean a total of 1 ohm load, ( altho its no where mentioned that the amp is 1 ohm stable ).

lets consider them wired in series. then if we use 4 ohm subs on each terminal it wud mean a total of 8ohm load which would cut the power by half.

it was confusing for me too, so instead of using both the terminals i decided to use just one like a regular monoblock and wire the subs for a net of 2 ohms. ( the manual mentions that you can either use both the sets or one set, so i didnt take any chances and being on the safer side went the regular way and had no problems)

I ran them one speaker to each output. Checked impendence with my Multimeter and showed 2ohm load on both sides. Worked perfect =).

So that concludes that the terminals are internally wired parallel....

My take on it is, its just 2 outputs on a barrier strip which in turn is hooked up to a single channel internally. When both subs are hooked up it drops the load in a parallel fasion. Could be wrong but would explain why I'm got a 2ohm load on both outputs of the amplifier.
