Hey ya'll I found this site and I read some of the posts and I already learned a lot. But I need some help for a system of my own, please :-) I want to get these subs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5291.html but I don't know what kind of amp I need to have that is at minimal price but most decent. I don't really want to spend much more than 150 on an amp. I'll be back later to post more, I'm at school right now and the bell just rang. Thanks guys!

these subs seem to be solid performers for the price.. how many were you thinking about running? 1 or 2? if you run a single sub in a well designed box with proper power, you would never know the difference, this all lies within the enclosure used though... not too often do you see people with single subs and that is mainly because they think well if one is good two will be twice as good... thats not the case though... but there is no reason for not going with two other than your budget for the amp, 600-800 watts @ 1omh or 4omh because of the voice coil configuration of the sub... what types of music do you like, this will help us better plan a proper box for your system...

this amp here is rated at 600watts RMS@1ohm, feeding each sub 300 watts-plenty of juice to feed these woofers. and its under 150 bucks

you could also go this way with a 2channel amp will feed the subs a lil more power but will also put a larger strain on your electrical system at higher volumes. 440w RMS@2ohms x 2channels....only set back with this amp is no sub sonic filter, so if you do decide to go with a ported enclosure you will need to purchase a set of inline SSF to prevent damaging your subs... i think they cost 20-30 for a set....

any comments on these amps, or any other subs you were wondering about.... just let us know what type of music you like and a rough estimate of space available for enclosure.. good luck

I heard that a sealed box would be good for rock/heavy metal type stuff. How do I turn 4 Ohm subs into 1 Ohm, or is that what the Dual Voice Control is for? Also, whats the difference between a mono amp and 2 channel, would I be able to hook up the rear speakers to one channel and the subs to the other?? I'm not really sure how all that works. Hmm what else do I need to know? What other possible things do I need to look out for and be aware of. Thanks compvr15s :-D

There is a little FAQ section on the other site we have had going parallel since 2001. It has some useful information you can read over if you wish to shorten the time it takes to learn about audio and the industry.
