The rear brakes will partially engage, but not enough to wear them out. Do be carefull about racing the engine too hard--unloaded, for too long. Other than that, not really. swez on 12/7/2005 23:37:57 Yeah, the guys I hung out with in school used to do that all the time on blacktop. They usually had the reaqr brakes pretty loose and did very little to stop wheel spinning. If I recall rightly, they also use a solution of bleach and water in front of the rear drive wheels. That really produced a lot of white smoke, but not so hard on the rubber. (tires) Not sure how the bleach may react to alloy or chrome wheels though. If you can get enough wheel spin, water will do the job too. Swez PS As Mr B. mentioned, keep an eye on your tachometer. Don't "Redline" as this can be very hard on an unbalanced engine.
