HOW YALL DOING WELL IM TRYING TO FIND OUT SOME SUB BOX PLANS FOR 3 15" KICKER CVR'S IM GOING TO BE PUSHING THEM AT 2400 WATTS IN A 95 BUICK RIVIERA. I WANNA DO A SEALED BOX SO IF SOMEONE HAS THOSE PLANS PLEASE HOLLA BACK. Replies (11) ttocs on 11/21/2005 23:20:53 we will need you to follow step by step instructions, but we can help. #1) push in the caps lock button, now pry it off the keyboard and throw it away. We do not like to be yelled at. #2) Its going to be hard to give box dimension, especially for one that will be that large. Do you have any measurements of your trunk? swez on 11/22/2005 10:42:29 Yep, lose the Cap Lock button.... Figure you will need a minimum or 18" in height and about 50" of length. The rest is how deep the box needs to be for desired airspaced in each sub chamber. If you have that clearance against the back seat, firing toward the bumper, this is doable. Swez P0werLifter on 11/22/2005 13:30:44 We need measurments.......and ditch the caps lock..... compvr15s on 11/22/2005 16:47:02 your box is going to be huge, going to be adding quite a bit of weight to your trunk.... i have 2 15inch CVRs in a 92 lumina and its jammed full, im sure your trunk is probably a lil more spacious but im now sure how much. more than likely your going to have to have the front board on an angle where your speakers mount.. not sure exact measurements on my box but id image its probably only 16-18 inchs tall and it will not fit facing foward. and facing up is not that great of option, trunk lid will rattle like crazy and its just simply not as loud.... so maybe a wedged front board will help you hear, unless you have the clearence.... wow i can only imagine how much is going to way. its just about all i can do to move my box (im 6'4" 300lbs) box is awkard shape tho, so with 3 15s better get some friends to help out, good luck sosohigh on 11/22/2005 18:22:45 Appreciate the replies, oh and sorry bout the caps. Let me take measurments and hit yall back. My trunk is real big i have two 15's in a vented box right now and that box is big. Some one told me that going with sealed is the best way cause it reduces space and the bass is more accurate. They said vented or ported would not sound good cause too much bass it would be to boomy. So let me take down measurements and ill get back soon. Thanx swez on 11/22/2005 19:26:03 Sealed will give you tighter bass then most vented/ported designs is correct. It will not be as efficient, (SPL/watt) vs sealed or ported, but still pretty loud. That amp you mentioned, what make and model number is it? (a link would be nice) Also, which version Comp VR's are you thinking of using here? (2+2 or 4+4 DVC's?) This matters a lot since you are using 3 subs. Swez sosohigh on 11/23/2005 01:26:22 sosohigh on 11/23/2005 01:40:16 The amp im going to use is a 2400 lanzar vibe276. Check it out here http://www.caraudiodeals.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_30&products_id=369. Im using the new 05 Comp VR's the silver ones. So would it be better to do vented or sealed. I like to listen to professionals so if you saying it wouldn't be as efficient i don't want to down grade from where im at now. So let me know what you think and i will be back with my trunk measurements when i get home. Swez you da dogg man seem like you got da answers son. you da truth sosohigh on 11/23/2005 02:23:56 Oh also i found out the interior volume of my comp vr's. In a sealed box it is 1.8 - 5.2 cu. ft.. In a ported box it is 3 - 5 cu. ft. Oh and the DVC is 4+4. compvr15s on 11/23/2005 02:24:58 this amp says max 2400@4omhs. so rms is prolly 1200-1500watts. not sure how well this will work but if you have dual 2omh subs, you can wire 2 subs to left channel for a 2 omh load, and then the 3rd sub to right channel @ 4ohm load. if you have dual 4omh load wiring the subs is going to be a pain, and more than likely not improving bass over your system now.... have you already purchased the 3rd sub. if not lets see if there is anyway we can improve your current system or modify it... without being able to achieve a proper ohmic load for your amp can easily damage it. your amp is rated @4omh bridged, going below this would be bad. wait for others to reply but im sure we can figure out something for you. swez on 11/23/2005 13:54:57 Looks like this amp may deliver close to 1500-1800 Wrms in bridged mode at 4 ohms. Since there are no published manuals to dig deeper, it is difficult to advise the best way to use this amp in a 3 sub configuration. As CompVR mentioned, with a twist, you can use "channel A" (4 ohm net load, 2 subs in series/parallel) and "channel B" (8 ohm net, both coils in series) and get reasonably balanced bass output from each sub. (about 300 Wrms per sub) However, this will not get the most from this specific amps capabilities. A better way to go, would be all 3 subs in series, (8 ohms/sub) and then all subs in series to a strong MONO Class D amp. (2.67 net ohms) Each sub is rated for 500 Wrms/ea. In a larger box, even less power is needed to reach X-max. (Keep that in mind) About your box, here are the recommended Sealed specs for the C-15 subs: http://www.kicker.com/05/tech-support/manuals/manuals/CVRdMan.pdf I think you may do well to stay in the 2.0-2.4 cf range here. Good low bass extension and some punch as well. Power handling is not going to be a big issue here. Each sub will get ~300 Wrms, when you push em hard. Certainly nothing to sneeze at. That's your best option with this amp/sub combo. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
