OK, WELL I REMOVED THE HU AND BENCH TESTED IT AS YOU INSTRUCTED. NO SOUND CAME FROM EITHER FRONTS OR BACKS. IAM REAL BUMMED ! SO WHAT CAN I DO NOW I REALLY CANT AFFORD TO GO OUT AND PURCHASE A NEW H/U AT THIS TIME. SO WORST CASE SENARIO IS IF I CANT UTILIZE THIS ONE THEN I'LL HAVE TO WAIT.? #1. ANY IDEA WHAT IT WOULD COST TO SEND IT IN FOR A REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF THE INTERNAL AMP ? #2. HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING SOUND FROM THIS HU USING AN EXTERNAL AMP ? PLEASE HELP EXPLAIN HOW THIS IS DONE. I HAVE A 4 CHANNEL 600.4 KICKER AMP, AND A 2/CHANNEL 200 WATT PPI. IS THIS WHAT YOU WERE REFERING TO WHEN YOU SAID USING THE RCAS FROM AN EXTERNAL SOURCE ? MAN, IAM SO BUMMED.... ALL YOUR DIRECTION, TIME AND HELP HAS BEEN MUCH APPERCIATED. THANKX

Have you tried hooking a amp to the preout jacks located on the back?

YES, IT STILL SEEMS THAT I GET NOTHING. IM THINKING THE HU IS TRASH. ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS TO WORK FINE VISUALLY. BUT I DID HOOK THE RCAS INTO THE BACK OF THE HU, NO LUCK

Sounds like someone really abused it. Looks like another one is in order. Sorry......

Have you determined if there is a reset button on this specific HU? If yes, give it a shot. Some of the better HU's have reset protection circuits in them. Hopefully, yours has one. (I cannot find one in the install or owners manuals)

Just for hits and giggles, remove the face panel, take a pencil eraser and gently clean all metal contacts on the face plate and HU pads. You may get lucky and find the unit works again.

If all these fail, you have 2 choices:

1. Off to the repair shop and wait
2. Replace the HU

allrite thankx. No there seems to be no reset button. And unfortunately the eraser trick did not work. Its funny that in whatever happened to the hu i never blew a fuse, neither the one on the hu or under the dash

It does sound like the amplifier and maybe preamp circuits are damaged. Nothing the average person can do with it at this point.

If you really like the HU and think it's worth ~$75.00 (or a tad more) to repair, take it to an authorized Pioneer repair facility and let them fix it. If it is still under warranty, good option if you don't mind the wait. If not, start looking for a new one. Bummer the bench check did not produce desired results. SAD
