I'm going to finally get started on the sound dampening phaze of my trunk and have a couple questions for ya'll. First question I have is when I apply the Dynamat to the trunks lid, should I cut the mat so it fits just inside of the rubber seal (when the trunk is closed), or should I cover it completely so when the trunk is shut the mat is actually supressed against the seal. Second question. What should I do with the trunk lids rear light area. There is a cavity in which the rear lights mount and was wondering if I should just shove some foam in there. If I were to use the Dynamat there would be a lot of areas where the mat is'nt touching anything, and when it's time to change a blinker/brake bulb, I would have to cut into it to get to the nuts which support the lighting unit. Thanks again.... Greg Replies (1) ttocs on 11/10/2005 20:23:17 trunk lids are normally dificult to apply to, and even harder to get the rattling out. I think it is better to sparingly use expanding foam between the metal surfaxes. dynamat is made to be installed on metal surfaces, do not cover plastic or any seals with it. Be sure to clean the area that it is being applied to. A damp rag will do but it is better to go over it with some IPA as well. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
