if you have the same deck, speaker, subs and amps and install them in the normal places of a car, truck and suv will there be much of a difference in sound, vol. and quality between the different rides and if so what is the difference? Replies (2) swez on 11/10/2005 09:16:11 Yes, each vehicle has its own unique audio characteristics. In a compact car or small truck, it is easy to obtain high SPL due to the small space the speakers have to fill. (to a point) In a larger vehicle and trunk mounted sub designs, we often hear less bass, but may feel more low bass due to the subs being closed off from the cabin. When using same amps and HU, there is not much difference here. However, speaker placement, speaker efficiency ratings and sound absorbtion materials can make a big difference from one vehicle to another. A heavily padded vehicle (luxury vehicles) tend to absorb sound more then sparsely padded utility trucks and low end ecconomy cars. Finally, the distance between the driver and speakers will also have some notable effects. The further away the speakers are from the drivers ears, the less appearent SPL we will percieve. Hope that helps, Swez BgDustin4 on 11/10/2005 17:00:14 one thing i have seen is my brother in laws suberban hits hard kinda like my truck but not as hard but i have a lot more in my truck then him it seems like the suberbans get like a tunnel effect on the subs or something i like it lol Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
