ohms and what speakers i need

ok so my issue is pretty complicated but i believe i can explain it. I have a 2002 grand am GT with the Monsoon system. I took out the head unit and installed the door chime wiring harness in needed to use an aftermarket head unit with this car. I think added a pioneer head unit. I then went to replace the rear speakers, which is where i run into problems. The rear speakers have 2 positives and 2 negatives going into it, i took the speakers out and hooked up my new 6x9's to the one set of wires, which i believe was the set that controlled the bass, so out of my 6x9s i get not that much highs. My question is, since i added 2, 4ohm speakers as compared to the 2ohm speakers that were in there, if i was to add 2 tweeters on the last sets of wires i had from the old 6x9(with the 2 positives and 2 negs) would i overload my factory amp. to tell u the truth im not even sure where the factory amp is or what speakers are pushed through the factory amp. i hooked all the audio up no problem in my old car but this one with it being newer with the stupid factory amp is really confusing me as to what i can do...please if anyone has any suggestions or any clue what im talking about please help me out id greatly appreciate it. thanks
