I was browsing and the site gave an error message for several hours. just wondering if anyone knows anything. Google's last cache was Oct 10 Replies (8) swez on 10/31/2005 16:30:45 Noted the same thing a few days ago. When there to look up some stuff and the site would not load. Either they are down for maint or have gone under??? Swez MrBrownstone on 10/31/2005 19:29:49 highly doubt the maintenance thing. That can be done offline, and doesn't affect the active database. Something fishy going on there... HMMM swez on 10/31/2005 19:42:47 I suggested maintenance as an option because Car Domain was down for the whole weekend to revamp its site to a larger network server system. (10/22-23/05) CD is back up and running again as scheduled... but as for the Zeb, we may have to do a deep search to get de-tails. De-feet, crossed de-fence, before de-tail. Or so it was said of the horse as he bounded out of the pasture and across the roadway to freedom. Happy Halloween you old coute! GRIN Swez sanbas on 11/1/2005 00:36:11 thezeb ebay feedback http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=thezeb I have bought from them before long time ago, but obviously something devistating has happened or they are really ripping people off! admin on 11/1/2005 00:41:15 http://gamepro.pricegrabber.com/rating_getreview.php/r=1845/ ttocs on 11/1/2005 08:24:57 the zeb closed............ they took alot of peoples money on the way out from what I have heard. swez on 11/1/2005 10:19:46 This looks bad guys. Sounds like Zeb bit the dust and took a few innocent buyers down the primrose path with them. If any of you here have outstanding orders with them, dispute the charges on your credit card purchases or contact PayPal if that was your method of payment. Good luck, Swez PS The web based sales sites are thinning again this year. Yes, prices are dropping on some sites. But just be careful as you buy. This can be a sign of cash strapped sellers, who are trying to pay their bills. We saw this same pattern a few years ago. The strong sites like Crutch and Souund Domain should fair well. Some of the deep discount site could go under later. Keep your eyes and ears open. If the deal sounds too good to be true... it probably has a hook in it. MrBrownstone on 11/3/2005 21:00:09 It seems that the ultralow cheap sites are falling out if they hadn't already. That's why ZEB and sounddomain got 'authorized' with many brands---to cut others out of the supply chain. One of the 'selling points' that our friends at Audiobahn, DEI, CDT, MTX, Phoenix, etc. had been trying to tell us online owners is that we needed to be 'authorized' to make a business last. Evidently, the only businesses that are still thriving are the ones that wholesale the stuff all over and sell whatever they want!! Sorry to hear about the Zeb. They were one of the cornerstones of the online stores. I was possibly interested in taking over 2-3 struggling stores, then combining their traffic into one store just for the write-offs it can provide now that I am on very strong financial footing myself. Of course, one conversation with Swez reminded me of how hard I struggled to get the site I had up, and the level of personal commitment it took to keep it there. I'll try to find the list of internet car audio stores that were there when I started. When I started, there were around 100 established sites. When I left (circa 2002) there were 15 or so left that were under the 'original' owners. Now, although I know the owners of Woofers etc., everybody that I know is out of the game. Interesting, but ebay has killed off the internet car audio store AND poisoned manufacturers from offering 'authorized' stores to make money. The only people hurt in that deal is the consumer. Lack of choice = communism. END RANT Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
