i've been posting at other car audio forums and ive found this one to be the best, i get alot of good feedback here and alot of good recommendations.

i have a set of comp. spkrs and an mtxthunder sub powering them. the next step is the sub(s) and the amp to power it.
swez recommended a class d mono amp and a 10-12in sub.
i really like that idea right now.
i just need some good companies to look into( re, arc, phoenix, directed) are some brands ive checked out but need some suggestons.

i also dont want a system too powerful so that i have to re do my elec. system, i dont want to get too fancy i just want clean loud audio.

thanks guys

There are many great amps and sub options out there to choose from. Just depends on your budget, space available for the sub(s) and how much power you want in the bass engine.

As for brands, Infinity, JBL, Alpine, JL, PG, Directed and many others will do a fine job.

One of my time tested favorites would be Alpine. Their SWR or SWS series subs are very solid and don't require huge enclosures to give deep, accurate bass. A single 4+4 DVC in either series would be easy on the pocket book and great performance in a small enclosure.

As for power, 200-300 watts (RMS) of amping power is plenty in a small car.

Suggestions:

Amp: MRP-M350 (a tad over 300 RMS at 2 ohms)
Amp: MRD-M301 (very similar to -M350)

Sub: SWS 1242 (12", 2 or 8 ohms, 1.25 cf sealed, 300 Wrms)
Sub: SWR-1242D (500 Wrms, 2 or 8 ohms)

Any of these will do very well for your application. If you go much larger than 300 Wrms in amping power, power shortages will become an issue for you later. These products offer strong bass performance at better than average prices.

Am sure you will find both sub and amp to be well above average in performance and well below MSRP.

I have a few friends (and several CK users) that have purchased and installed these products. Your best prices will come from E-bay. However, they may not have a "factory warranty" plan that way. One of the better sites to shop online is Car Domain.com. They had a policy to match or beat any published prices and are authorized Alpine dealers.

Good luck shopping,
Swez
