is it possible to fit a folded horn enclosure for 12s in the trunk of a 91 caprice.....i mean what would be the dimensions as far as the size of the thing...this is the only way i would go back to subs right now is if i could cram this thing in my trunk without losing my back seat or anything like that....im thinkin type r's ......anyone ever done something like this?

Sealed is the smallest enclosure one can use and still have good bass performance. Most 12's need 1.0 - 1.5 cf of internal airspace to give good lows. The larger the box, the deeper the low bass will be, but power handling is diminished.

General box size: External dimensions noted here

Height: 15" min.
Width: 31" min. (3/4" MDF divider board used)
Depth: 12" min.

Net internal volume/chamber: 1.1 cf/chamber - sub displacement

Think it through carefully. Map out the space you have available in the trunk and see what fits the space you have available. It is generally best to point your subs toward the rear bumper of the car. However, some experimentation is fine. The main thing to getting solid bass in your ride, is to have adequate airspace in the enclsoure to suit your sub needs.

I would not recommend going smaller than 1.0 cf/sub. Most 12's do pretty well in a 1.0 - 1.25 cf airspace when sealed. When using dual subs, it is best to have a divider board in the box. This gives each sub it's own sealed chamber.

Good luck,
Swez
