Hey everybody, been a while since I've been on here. How's everybody doing? The reason I am here is I want to add a little amp to run my front JL TR5.25 coaxial speakers. What I would like to know is can I keep my existing 8ga power wire for both my sub amp and full range amp? I have a JBL 300.1 running a 12" Alpine Type R 4ohm DVC sub at 2ohms. My headunit is a Kenwood KDC-2019 and the amp I am looking to hook up to it is an Orion CS200.4 amp. I will only be running the front channel on this amp. 8ga wire is usually good for up to 50A of currnt right? My JBL amp is 40A and the Orion has 2 20A fuses. So would I be pushing the limit on the amout of current running thru the 8ga wire? Also one other thing, has anybody had any experience with this amp or what is your opion on it. I haven't bought it yet but I can get it used for $150CDN. Its an Orion CS200.4 Talk to you later, Jay Replies (2) ttocs on 10/28/2005 08:05:57 I would upgrade the wire to a 4 awg. You can keep the 8 awg and use it from the dist block to the amps, or upgrade your factory ground with it. Sorry, never worked with that amp to give an opinion. Welcome... swez on 10/28/2005 11:14:58 Good to see ya back ol boy! Yep, use a #4 gage feeder and an 80A fuse from the BAT. Keep your #8 wires and use the D-block as ttocs said. Do a google search on amp and see what opinions are out there. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
