Dynomat

Ok so after 2 years of having a system in my car...my car rattles unbelievably. Honestly, my doors will fall off any day now haha. So i have a question. How much SPL gain can i get if i Dynomat my car. By the way i drive a 91 Jeep Cheroke so trunk is part of the cabin...so would i have to dynomat both the trunk and up in the front under the carpet by where people sit?

Also, what is the difference between the different brands of matting? Will i notice a difference if i use dynomat Vs. an offbrand if i'm not doing competitions? Is there a really big cost difference and what is the average cost to dynomat your cabin?

Will I be able to feel the difference in my car by sound deafening the cabin? Is it even worth doing? I don't know much about how to do it or how effective it is, so i'm not sure if this will make a big difference in the overall sound quality, bass felt, and rattling heard in and outside the car.

Finally, if it is worth doing, how long and how difficult is it to actually do myself. I hate to pay instillation fees and i love doing stuff myself :)

Thanks!

I've been wondering about this as well. Just never got around to posting. Fellas.........

Well I just ordered 36 ft of the extreme for $120.00 w/shipping so I'm commited to using it now.
The one question that comes to mind is concerning my spare tire well. Should I remove the tire and dynamat the (tire) well and the plastic cover; Or just the cover ? I'm assuming the former...

I use brown bread and have had it last through 2 summers in phoenix. If it don't fall off out here, aint gonna...

Cherokees typically had alot of rattles for systems. Everything from the back door to the hood. Sound damping will help, but probably will not solve your problems.

You want to cover the metal surfaces in the car, not the plastic ones. Take all the panels off, seats out ect, and make sure to clean the surface.

Do you know how much SPL gain i will get? Will the difference be able to be felt or heard at a non competition level? Is all the work and money worth it if i'm not going into a competition?

Also lets just say i used the same brand you used...do you know a guesstimation of how much it could cost to sound dampin my entire car basically?

Thanks

You'll probably gain around a <+3 dB gain from sounddeadning the jeep. But you will definently notice how much quieter the actual drive is. It cuts down alot on the road noise and helps with your sound system.

Currently I have over 200sq ft of B-Quiet Extreme (same thing as brown bread, same company) in my Chevy. Covered the whole cab 2x and it has helped alot. Worth the time and money but its a b****h to do if u dont know what your doing.

Soundeadening your whole car isnt going to be cheap, or fast, give yourself at least a weekend to do it

Its not going to add Db's to your system. They advertise that it can reduce external noise by up to 3db, allowing more good noise(music) to be heard.
