Replies (11) JMB on 10/26/2005 00:35:16 do you have more info on your gear Eg... RMS ratings, sensitivity, ohm values? whats ur ride? go and read the newb info on posting. regards JMB ttocs on 10/26/2005 08:19:35 8's and 10's normally are not put together. I would use the 10's myself. What is the fuse size on the side of the amp? Car audio is filled with a bunch of low end lines that will write "50000 watts" on an amp that is closer to 50 watts. Unfortunatly legacy falls into this catagory. There is no reason that it cannot run a set of subs at a good volume, but I doubt it does 1800 watts. swez on 10/26/2005 12:30:23 Got a model # on that amp? JL makes some excellent products. The W0 series is entry level in power handling and price. The W7 series is their flagship sub series. These love lots of RMS power. Then they have several solid product offerings in the midrange prices. Legacy tend to greatly overstate rated power output numbers. If you had the fuse values used in that amp, we can deduce RMS power you can expect from that amp. A model number would help a lot. Finally, more woofers in a system, are not a great idea for daily drivers. If one was to go into high SPL Competition, the extreme classes use many woofers and amps. But here, it takes a great deal of time, money and experience to build a system like that. Swez PS If you gave us a goal, some budget #'s and a complete list of what you have and want to buy later, we can walk you through the steps. Here's a link to the .pdf on your JL 10W0-8 subs: Make a copy for your files and print for future references: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/10_12_15W0_MAN.pdf lilschtive on 10/26/2005 20:33:22 Ok here is the thing i just need to find out...I bought that amp for $125 1)Im going to put that amp in with the two 8'' mTx road thunders...which should be perfectly fine (im assuming) 2) With the two 10'' JL speakers i have, im not sure how i can hook those up to the amp...or even if im able to..i mean , there has to be a way to hook 4 speakers up. If you would just answer those questions ithat would be great swez on 10/27/2005 09:39:29 What is the model number on that Legacy amp? They make so many amps, w/o a model number, don't know how to advise you. Is this a 1,2 or 4 channel amp? Swez lilschtive on 10/27/2005 21:46:28 2 channel amp LA-1870 is the model # i think swez on 10/28/2005 15:49:52 PDF manual on this amp: http://www.legacycaraudio.com/manuals/RED2AMP.pdf I can promise you this amp is very much over rated in power specs. Legacy is a cheap brand that use peak power ratings for specs. Most likely, you'll see about 800 Wrms @ 4 ohms when bridged. (maybe even less) FYI: Legacy has a history of greatly exaggerting power ratings. They offer MAX or PEAK power numbers, but the RMS num bers could be as little as 25% of PEAK power, depending on how they fused the amp. Swez PS I cannot open this link very well, so it is difficult to say what the likely output on this amp would be. Do you have the fuse raings for this amp? That will get us in the ball park. lilschtive on 10/29/2005 12:13:08 but that still is a lot of power.. trunkisloud on 10/30/2005 22:57:47 sure its a lot of power...depending on what your pushing...but the point they are making is that legacy and many other companies over-rate their products...and that they can narrow down the actual power by the fuse ratings on the amp....so what you need to do is count the fuses on the amp....then see how many amps the fuses are....then post it on here so the actual power can be determined..then someone could help you with your problem swez on 10/31/2005 10:43:15 I finally got that .pdf to open and there were very few useful specs on that link. Mostly, the site tells how to wire the amp to HU and speakers. The RMS power specs are not given on any of the RED series Legacy amps. The best I can offer you here, is to bridge the amp, wire your JL subs in parallel for a net 4 ohm load and see what you get. What are the fuse ratings on this amp? (for the 3rd time) Swez lilschtive on 11/2/2005 22:45:00 i dont know where to find half this stuff you say.. But i did try the box with the 2 JL's and Legacy Amp. Suprisingly, for being 16 years old and building my first box, it sounds great. My whole car is shaking. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
