Hi guys, here are some head units ive been looking at for my ride. Entry level mp3/cd recievers. Im looking for a unit to power front and rear speakers, with a line/sub out for a sub and amp at a later date.

I liked the quality of finish on the clarion DB345MP, though it only has bass and treble controls.

The JVC KD-G416 i think has a three band EQ setting.

Pioneer DEH-3700 three band custom EQ setting.

Sony CDXF5510X Three band EQ, subout with low pass filter.

All the HUs are under $150US. Im planning to install myself.

What are your opinions on my selected HUs?
which one will give me the best SQ, which ones to avoid.

Regards, JMB

Here is a much better one then those you have short listed, you wud have to pay a few dollars more.

http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/item_info?p_item_name=CDA-9853&p_category=10&p_subcategory=45&p_main=10&p_more=y

here is the ebay link where you can buy it for a much cheaper price.

if you search harder i am sure u can find it at still cheaper rates. and i am sure anyone out here on CK wud buy that HU for $200 and around.

By the way, sony and pioneer do not make good low end HU's. only the much higher range of sony say after CDX-7700 and the pioneer premier HU's are good ones.

my friend has got JVC one u have listed in his car and trust me dude, this HU sucks...

The clarion is a decent one.

Here are a few alpines you can look around for, if you dont wanna spend much..

CDA-9851 and CDA-9847, these are a step lower then the one i showed, with out EQ and other tweaks.

but i am sure if u shop smartly the CDA-9853 is a great option.

You can buy a Pioneer DEH4600 or DEH4700 ( not sure which one) w/mp3 & wma at walmart for about $118+tax. They've got them in a package deal with some cheap dual cone 6.5's, but they still beat the price of buying the HU alone at other places. Not to mention Walmart's return policy is hard to beat anywhere! I don't think the deal is online though, just local. At least here in Panama City I have seen it and I do plan to get one for my girl.
