What size is your present enclosure? (internal cf dimensions pls) Is it ported or sealed?

Also, not familiar with that amp. What is the RMS power output of that amp? Got a link?

With these details, we may be able to make some solid recommendations for a new sub.

what is the amp output, and at what speaker load? Bridgable?

Yes, some specs on the amp and enclosure would be quite helpful. For $150 you are looking at a midgrade sub at best. There are some decent subs out there in that price range, but we would need some specs on the amps RMS output, the number of channels, and some specs on the enclsoure.

To be honest with you, I think your main objective should be to figure out was caused the sub to blow. Only then can you figure what true route to take in keeping that from happening again with any sub you choose. It could have been not enough power (distortion (or clipping), box size not maximized for the sub to handle power, etc.

Ash nailed all the key factors that can blow a strong sub like the L5. Most likely, the enclosure was not well matched or the amp was clipping badly and caused the sub to fail. We are trying to prevent this from happening the 2nd go round, by asking all these dumb (but needed questions)

Also, if you used the L5 in a ported design and did not have a SSF, (Subsonic filter) at the amp inputs, this will blow a sub as well.

Check out Partsexpress.com. They carry a brand called Dayton Loudspeaker that makes several high quality sub lines with good power handling for about that price. The Titanics are straight brutes and only require small enclosures. There are a few other 10" subs they make that are of high quality as well.

As far as your enclosure goes, it may be possible another one will have to be built for not too many will work in the same cft. It may get close, but you will want to maximize each install which sometimes will call for simply building a different size enclosure. I rarely use the same box for different speakers for most subs are far from the same. The box is cheaper so quickly knocking one out shouldn't be a problem.
