Welp. I spent 8 hours this hot Saturday on my car stereo. I built an amp rack from 1" MDF and then stapled down grey speaker carpet on to it. Mounted my amps, power disros, and EQ. Drilled holes and pulled speaker wire through the amp rack, and then ran the wire under the carpet and door frames to their locations. I kept all speaker wire the same length to ensure the best possible imaging and timing between the speakers. Used 16ga bi-wire. The speakers installed where the CDT Classic Series CL-61 6.5" Components. Poly Woofer and 1" Silk Tweeter. Had a few minor spacing issues fitting the woofers into the stock location, but I removed the rubber backing on the magnet, as it was the only way I could keep the window from hitting and also used a 3/4" wooden spacer that the MidRange was mounted on. I've put about 10+ hours of listening into the speakers and am very impressed. They are running off a Butler Audio Tube Driver BLUE 275. Which runs at a modest 75 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms. This is more than enough to power these speakers to perfection. Even with poor door mounting location (no kick panels) the speaker / amp combination is able to create an excellent and wide field of sound. They produce very clean sound, with little to no harshness in any frequencies. They have excellent bass response for their size (though you need have them xovered) and produce strong voice and guitar with accuracy. Overall, I am very pleased with these speakers. At the price of $150 for the set (50% off due to factor paint mistake), it was by far the best purchase per dollar I have had in car stereo equipment. They are a good speaker/tweeter combination with a flat response that sounds good even in poor stock locations. The tweeter is made with silk, so it has smoother response properties than titanium or metal tweeters. I can say that it isn't quite as sharp as other tweeters I have heard, but the silk tweeter allows you to really increase the volume of the speaker set without squinting from the shrill typical of a metal based tweeter. These speakers are excellent for the average to above average listener. Meaning, they play loud and clear, but you aren't going to win any SPL competitions. Their response it flat and well suited for layered music such as rock, classical, and the sort. They still sound great with rap and simpler music such as techno, but really shine with complex music (but this is also due to the amplifier that I am using). Out of 1-10 scale, I would give the MidRange an 8.5 for SQ, The Tweeter a 9 for SQ, and the overall system a 10 for price/quality. Hope this helps anyone who was looking into components, as I always found it important to read others reviews before I made my decision. If anyone has further questions or comments let me know.
