I have a 600 watt lanzar 420 hooked up to 2 jensen sx bass comptetion series 12 inch subs. My subs make a pulse/thump/heartbeat noise at low volume, when i turn the amp up. I am wondering why this woudl happen. Any responses will be appreciated. Replies (3) ttocs on 09/26/2005 11:29:09 disconnect the rca's from the amp and see if it stops. Check all power connections as well....... lessismorespl on 09/26/2005 13:19:44 2XX what ttocs said, also, check your ground connections to make sure they are secure, and double check all the settings on your amp, if the gain is set too high it can cause this even w/ the head unit turned all the way down. less swez on 09/28/2005 20:04:28 Some older amps and many cheap ones, don't have anti-thump circuits on them. For these amps, it is normal to have some degree of warm up time before the amp settles into a stable and quiet mode of operation. Try the earlier suggstions first, as they are often the biggest factors of issues noted in your post. Poor grounding practices at HU and/or amp(s) cause most of these issues. Especially if the amp/subs don't settle down after a few seconds of amp warm up time. If all else fails and you still get the thumps after redoing grounds, the only things left are" 1. Live with it 2. Install a switch between amp outputs and sub(s) subs are manually switched off for several seconds, while the amp is stablizing Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
