hey all been reading for a while and decided to jump in and post. looking for some help i have 2 xxx 12's and 1st first generaton HiFonics Colossus amplifier i am installing the woofers in a box i got plans for from team toxic bass. I was wondering since i want my system to sound great what should i use as mids and highs at what wattage? i was thinking something like and infinity 6.5 inch component set and an 8" woofer in front kickpanels and the same in the rear doors, would this be enough? any suggestions greatly appreciated especially detailed ones with speakers (make model and size) and wattage to run them thank you all very much in advance for your great help have a great day Replies (2) swez on 09/26/2005 11:01:49 With the subs you have now, no need for any large format woofers in the doors. You'll have plenty of cabin filling bass with the XXX subs. Many of the guys here, really like the clarity and power handling features of the CDT Components. The Classic series is a great priced system and can handle mids and highs very well at 75 - 120 watts RMS per side. If you want to upgrade, the HD or Euro series are also excellent products. But, the prices are notably higher for them as well. Have a look at the CDT series offerings and see if they are to your liking: http://www.thezeb.com/c-CDT-Audio-5008.htm As for installing, the MB drivers work great in a well sealed door mount. The tweeters are best to installed in the "A" Pillars, aimed at the rear view mirror. This gives superb imaging characteristics as it raises the front stage highs to ear level. Very impressive sound, due to the crossovers they use. As for the rear speakers, can use a budget minded set of 2/3-way coaxials. These are only for rear fill in most cases. Not needed for bass, so you can filter out the lows with "Bass Blockers" and use them as Mids/highs only. Can amp them if you like, or run them from the HU amp channels. Comments? Swez Victor on 09/26/2005 17:20:36 well i wud not mind a MB driver playing mono in the center console just for the sake of better staging and getting the bass upfront, ofcourse you wud need a proper xover for it.
