If you are looking for an AMP just for the subs, then a Class D monoblock amp would be the best option here, they are aimed at powering low frequency drivers and are much more efficient in terms of current draw when compared to class A/B.

Look for the amp and subs at the same time, u may buy them one after the other but u have to decide on the configuration at the same time, so that they match properly.

If you dont want to get loud and are looking for clean clear crisp sound, the i wud suggest you just go with one 12" , 300 - 500 wrms sub , prefrably a 4ohm DVC in match with an amp that puts out 300-500wrms @ 2 ohms, with a sub sonic filter, so that u can even have the option to use a ported enclosure incase u are looking for a bit louder sound..

Hope this helps.. lets us know if theres something else..

Victor..

PS. By the way a 12" 300 wrms sub in a ported can get pretty loud too..

Agreed... 300-500 watts (RMS) for sub power plant is pretty strong. A Class D MONO amp is often best for sub only applications. They are designed only for bass. They have fewer circuits and designed for clean power at bass frequencies only. The efficiency of most Class D amps is 80% or higher. The best one can get from a full range amp is typically about 60%.
