what are your plans longterm. Are you going to keep the car for a while? what kind of music do you like? What do you plan to do with the system, how crazy?

It can be as simple as adding a self powered sub or as crazy as you want it to be. Be glad to help ya and guide ya, just need as much info as possable.

Also be sure to check out our how to series, it answers alot of common questions that come up.

Take a good look at what you want to have (performance wise) in your ultimate system. Once that is clear in your mind, then begin planning your installs, one piece at a time.

Stock speakers are at best, very lame at full range, high fidelity sound. The HU has about 15-22 watts (RMS) of power per channel. High efficiency speakers can do pretty well with that level of power, but amping them (front speakers especially) can make a huge difference in clarity and clean sound when you want to "turn it up".

Subs are great for adding the lower octaves of bass most car speakers cannot deliver. If you are looking for balanced bass and not a boom boom machine, a single sub will do very nicely. An amp that can deliver 100-300 watts (RMS) of clean bass power is plenty.

Buying off the net is fine. As long as we know we are dealing with reputable dealers and get a real warrantee, the savings can be substantial over most retail outlets with huge operating costs in the pricetag. Looking for good deals is easier and most quality brands will give us truoble free pleasure for years to come. We can help you find these deals. Many of the better e-bay sellers (Power sellers) do a great job on price and delivery too.

Finally, think carefully about your speaker choices. This is the most important part of the system. Cheap speakers can be very "squawky", "shrill" or "honky" sounding. Quality speakers (especially up front) bring live concert/studio sound into your car. Do you have a budget in mind for your install? If so, get some numbers together and then we can link you to some great values on the good stuff.

PS Think of this as a personal investment in your driving/listening pleasure. It does not have to be done all at one time either. A little here, a little there and eventually, you will have a system to be proud of and enjoy for many years to come. When you sell the car, keep your old gear handy to re-install to stock. Your investment grade audio gear can be transfered to the next ride you get.
