Hello. A friend is trying to put a cd player into a 1998 Ford Taurus. We bought a wiring adapter, but it doesn't fit. For some reason, this year's car is different or soemthing. So on installdr.com, i looked up a wiring diagram, and all of the wire colors are wrong, as very few of them are present. Does anyone have any other wiring diagrams for free? Thank you. Swez ttocs on 07/22/2003 11:26:49 I had the same problem on an older taurus. Did you buy the complete kit? All the wiring for your car is actually located behind the trunk molding on the drivers side. The dash part of the radio is just the display, the guts are in the trunk. You will need to get a taurus year specific kit that replaces the oval radio with a kit, and also comes with the antenna extention, and all the wiring necessarty to run to the trunk. You are looking around $50 retail, maybe cheaper online. Bassmafia on 07/21/2004 01:30:59 Yes,he's very correct! I just purchased a 97'Ford Taurus GL.And requires the same kit as yours. The kit the you need is by METRA.They're sold at Circuit city. And also www.crutchfield.com & www.sounddomain.com And yes they're way much cheaper online! Oh,even www.partsexpress.com carry's the kit too! Good luck,Clint SeVeNX7X on 07/21/2004 09:09:09 To expand on the trunk explanation... The 'tuner' is located on the left hand side on the wheel well.. you need to take off a few clips, and bend the carpet down, and you will see it.. it has i believe 2 plugs and an antenna... you unplug the black plug and the antenna and plug them into the harness that comes with the aforementioned taurus kit [which is one of the most extensive kits ive seen.. also costing 49.99 most places such as best buy/circuit city] And then you have to run all the wires up to the dash.. Not a hard install, just sometimes time consuming. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
