go with the JL W7 13. it's more expensive, but IMO it's the best sub on the market.

do NOT get the type-x, it's not even close to as good as it's cracked up to be.

i've never heard the kove armageddon so i can't comment. but like i said, i've never heard a better sub than the W7.

Am sure they all can sound good in a well designed enclosure and adequate clean power to run them. Most folks don't realize just how important the enclosure and placement are in above average SQL applications.

If you have the cash and a good amp to power it, the JL is probably the best bang for your buck. Another good option to consider is the Adire Brahma series. They are 2+2 DVC's and they perform very well with as little as 500 RMS. 1600 watts is max power the coil can take, but the high BL & excursion of this sub, can drive the cone to Xmax at 800 RMS, depending on enclosure used. The Brahma is a solid SQL sub. A strong 30 Hz., signal is attainable with this sub, as with the JL. It's the enclosure design that is the deal maker or breaker.

It's gonna come down to box design, installation, and usage. The woofers have similar designs, and the differences are going to be minimal.

There is no best sub on the market for anything. No best SQ sub, no best SPL sub, simply the best installations.

Subs are like Cars. What you pay vs what you get may vary.

Maserati Spyder vs Corvette, ex:

In this instance, the Maz is $110k, Vette $60k

For an extra $50k, you get nothing but the import tax and name. Performance is so similar, you'd never be able to tell the differrence--although I really dislike the Maz's Auto stick. I can shift better, and more quietly than the italian's autobox any day. My friends Maz just doesn't have anything other than the name over the Vette.

Now with subwoofers, similar things occur.

Alumapro is one of the most efficient woofers per dollar, and per POUND out there. They use high energy magnets, and therefore, need less input power. Also, their magnets are much smaller, but provide the same energy. When a woofer company doesn't boast their magnet weight in their advertisements, there's a reason. In their case, it's because size doesn't matter, energy does.

As far as what to tell you to buy out of the above woofers, you're in a class of Mazerati, Corvette, Viper, etc. Each has slight advantages, and no one has a distinct edge on all aspects of performance. The Kove is likely to be every bit as good as the W7, so cost should really come into play.

I think the proper comparison may be the Vette vs. Maserati. I've driven both, I really don't see the $50k difference. I used to use Kove's products a few years ago, and they are excellent.

JL is the way to go..

Its undisputed as far as i see it.

If there was a hands down, undisputed champion in woofers, everybody in DB DRAG, IASCA, and USAC would be using the same woofers and amplifiers. Unfortunately, there just isn't one. It's all about installation. Otherwise, any fool could use JL and win everything.

Personally, I'd pick Rockford before JL...just to tick off the best buy haters. Mostly, though, because the equipment just doesn't matter that much. When you are comparing Viper to Vette, it's cost vs performance. For a few thousand, you can get the Vette up to Viper standers in 0-60, but is it worth it?

Brand loyalty just costs money for no meaningful reason. Pick whichever woofers you want, it won't make a difference.

I agree , in the end it all depends on the installation.

But when both the products are compared on individual level and the specs sheets are compared , doesnt the JL stand ahead.?

And as I read his post i think he had decided upon anyone from kove and JL , hence i replied saying that it was undisputed that JL 13" was better then the kove when the spec sheet is compared..
