I've been using the factory speakers in my ion since i'm low on cash. Recently, I found a sony xplod 6.5" speaker xs-r1611 i can't remember the ratings for it and can't seem to find it online but it only cost 25 bucks per pair and I was wondering if they're worth replacing for now since my factory speakers aren't the best.
I haven't heard many good things about sony.
Will be powering them from my HU Apline CDA 9847... the factory speakers start to distort not even 50% of the volume.

first of all, excellent choice on head unit.
second, xplod speakers aren't the best, but there are certainly worse speakers out there. for $25, i'd say go for it.

If you keep a watch on e-bay, i guess u can find some comparable stuff in cheap prices... u never know when u can lay ur hands on an excellent set of speakers for low prices.

Sony makes a halfway decent line, and anything is better than stock, I know the 6.5's your talking about, I think they are walmart brand, lol, but they distort @ 65-70% volume.
