OK heres my deal:

I have a MTX amp and MTX 12" subwoofers and a pioneer head unit, I did have them in my cavalier... i am getting a new car its a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire with a "Monsoon sound System" on the radio it tells what song is playing and what station its on... a feature that i really like and it makes me not want to hook up my own head unit. HOWEVER i really like to drive the car with my subwoofers on.... so i guess my ? is... is there any way to hook up my amp and subwoofers to the radio that is already in the car?

Sure. You would just use a line out converter from the speaker output of the factory unit. That would convert the +/- wires from the factory player to RCA cable. From there, you could send it to your amplifier.

I would suggest getting a line driver (practically any one) to assist you in getting proper RCA voltage to the subwoofer amplifier without using too much of the factory's volume knob.

replacing the deck could be troublesome........ adding a sub should not be a problem.

We always welcome questions, our DIY article section covers alot of questions as well. Here is an article I wrote.
