01 Z24 Cav. 1 RE MX 12, 1 Memphis 16-PR1000.1, 2 Memphis 16-PR200.2, 1 set Polk Momo Carbon fiber 6x9 in rear and Polk DB 4x6 in the front.

I have a Resonant Engineering MX 12 2ohm DVC and a Memphis PR1000.1. The subwoofer is in a 4.10 cubic ft box and it is ported 45 hz. I'm considering upgrading to 2 of these subs and another amp. Any help here would be very appreciated b/c I do not have a clue on how I will fit 2 of these in my trunk the one I have takes up all my trunk space. Does the box have to be that big? How would I build a box with the right airspace and make it fit in my trunk?
I just got my 220 amp Irragi alternator in yesterday but have no idea on how to upgrade the wiring for it. What is the Big 3? How do you wire it? Any input here would be very helpful.

I want to get some CDT Audio or Focal 3-way components for the front and 2-way components for my rear. I will be building my own mounts. so any help here would be greatly appreciated also.

I hope I included the proper information. I plan on ordering the equipment this week. Thanks guys

if i was you i would not get another amp and sub, stick with what you have, you will be very unhappy with the little amout you are going to gain if any..... your are already in a large ported box so your gaining 3db over a sealed enclosure. in order to fit two in your trunk you will prolly need to go half as big and sealed so you will be back around where you started, for the sub and amp price its really not worth it..... if your bass is not enough we may be able to help you here but by adding another sub and amp you prolly wont be happy. as for the speakers, the components in the front are probzably going to be your most noticable upgarde... a good set of 2way or 3ways will blow those 4x6s out of the water....for the rears if i was you id stick ot the momos in the rears....rear fill is not necessary but it obviously dont hurt.... a good set of 6x9s are fine since your fronts are going to give you the most..... i would not waiste the money on another set of components for the rears since you already have the 6x9s...

on your sub, which way do you have the sub and the port facing... if they are not facing towards the rear license plate you may want to check that out, in almost every setup ive seen or heard facing the rear gave the best bass response, try to get as much space between sub and the area its facing...

Try not to be discouraged as weekends are a hard time to get detailed help on this board. Everyone is out and about, enjoying our summer.

Will review your post and offer some suggestions later. Have to go to work now. Will check back in soon with some ideas for you.

You have some good ideas, but I'm kind of confused. Let me explain.

You have basically a SPL enclosure, yet you want to upgrade your highs for SQ(sound quality). So my guess would be you want something in the middle, which is often not possible, but you can come fairly close.

Here are my suggestions:

Stick w/ the Polk Momo 6x9's, they are excellent for rear fill, the Momo's and eXcelons are probably your best choices, since you already have the Momo's stay with them.

I would definately change out the 4x6's, especially for the front stage. The CDT are more affordable, the Focal are excellent also, but I'm sure you can find some comparable CDT 3-ways for less money. The Classic 6.5" woofer will fit in your door(2" mounting depth), the midbass would need a kick panel somewhere under the dash or, as I did in a recent install w/ Boston Acoustics 3-ways, build panels and place them under the center console up towards the front. There is just enough room under the dash where the center console ends to place under there in small panels and it works very well.

As for a 2nd SX (I'm sure that is what you mean, RE does not have a MX) and 1000.1, it would be possible, you would have to drop your enclosure down to the about 5 cu ft ^3 and tune the ports to about 30-35 hz. If you have almost 4.5 cu ft in your tunrk now, it would not be hard to build one 5 cu ft for 2 of them.

Now some things to seriously consider: you said you have a 200 amp alt. That is just enough to run the system, you are still lacking power due to the rest of the electrical components in your car. Try to find a place to build you a bracket and run 2 alts. It would be well worth your efforts, run the 200 amp to a Red or Yellow Top in the trunk and use your OEM to run the rest of the car. Do a Big 3 and run another Red or Yellow Top for your main battery. It is not that hard to do and the results would be very rewarding. Your questions on the Big 3, go here:

It is the best tutoral I have found. It is very easy to follow and even has pics to guide you along.

If you have any ?'s, drop me Email @ admin@lessismorespl.com and we can discuss this further. I will give you step by step instructions on how to run your power to the trunk and adding the battery to your trunk etc....

Good Luck. You have a very nice system.

That sub is a real power house. Cannot find out much in specs or enclosure design recommendations on RE site. Best to get box specifics from RE for this one. Is that a 2+2 DVC model?

Do you have links to Memphis amps mentioned? My old links don't seem to work anymore for them. The main thing here, is that sub amp 1 ohm stable?

As for the Front and rear speakers, the 4x6's will need to to be filtered a bit higher as they cannot do lows (under 100 Hz.) very well. Some experimentation may be a good idea here. Find out how much clean power they can take at various HP filter setting. (Ie: 100, 150 & 200 Hz.) Good for midrange and highs, but they cannot handle too much bass frequency at high SPL's.

Rear x9's will give you more midbass response here. They can be run between 60-100 Hz (HPF settings) as your crossover point. If you have a high SPL sub in the trunk, will need to isolate the x9's from heavy bass waves produced by the sub. A small enclosure works well here. Something on the order of 0.15cf/speaker, sealed will keep the sub from battering them to pieces. Foam baffles will work, but they are often too small to get good MB response from x9's. Stuffing some polyfil in the enclosure will also help keep them clean and not affected by high sub SPL.

CDT or Focal make some great component speakers. Installing them in custom fit fiberglass pods, is a great way to do this well. An other option, put a 4" MR in the dash in place of the 4x6 speakers. 6.5 woofers in doors and tweeters uo in the "A" pillers, firing into the windhield. CDT's tech website has a lot of great ideas from guys who have extensive experience on sound stage imaging techniques. Team CDT guys are of great help, if you choose that brand.

Hope that helps get your juices flowing. Great amps already... now it's a matter of doing a top notch install, to get the most from your choices.

Thank you for all the suggestions, especially less for all the diagrams and detailed instructions on the Big 3. I shall let everyone know how it turns out.
