2002ish panasonic flip deck... im not sure on exact model
Concept CD-810 amp and 2 competition Concept 10" dvc subs.

Alright here's my problem:

When i bought this car it had a panasonic deck installed and the factory cassette deck removed (the factory cd deck is still in... beneath the panasonic). I have an amp to hook up now and i need to remove the panasonic deck. Basically i just need to know how to slide the panasonic deck out. Im also willing to slide the factory deck out (ill make some coathanger u's... try them, since i can't buy the actual tool)... is there some fancy tool, or whats the trick to removing a panasonic... I know how sony, alpine and kenwood decks are removed, but the panasonic is different.

Also i should probably be using 2 guage wiring but im going with 4, how much will this hinder performance?

Sweet ride, hopin to get my families ';94 gt later this year....

You can buy the tool at any auto parts store, ford radio removal tool, $5... coat hangers or nails will work as well, took my ford trucks radio out with some nails...

the panasonic will have a special tool that slides in and releases the clips. Often if you go to a local shop and explain your delema they will help you pull it out. If not I believe the plastic piece that surrounds the climate controls and holds the radio can be removed by taking out just a couple of screws.

Often when adding an amp to the mach systems there is a problem with the factory amp gains being turned up too high. when the factory speakers are maxed out, the aftermarket stuff is just getting warmed up. You can fix this by easily bypassing the factory amp by hitting the bypass harness in the consol. I am a mustang fan, be glad to help you out...

As for wire, bigger is always better....

In a car that short, 2 guage is necessary only if you're putting out 2kW total. 4 guage is plenty especially if you are using a class D subwoofer amp.

Just make certain you upgrade batt to alternator, body ground and you'll be fine.

If you are considering a future upgrade of power to about 2kW, i strongly suggest 2 guage.

panasonic head units don't use keys. when you take the trim ring off, you'll see tabs on the sides of the radio that look like they are coming out of the radio. take two flathead screwdrivers, push them in towards the radio, and pull it out.
