When i removed the head unit from the dash to plug in aux jacks in the back, the unit loss power. Not sure if I pulled a wire out or not.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot, or where i can find an install manual?

check your fuses man. often times people pull out radios and pop fuses without even realizing it. i can't think off the top of my head where the fuse box is in a GTI, but it should be easily accessible. there should be two seperate fuses for the radio. to make it easier, just check every fuse and replace as necessary.
if it still doesn't work, get a digital multimeter and test to see if your constant (yellow) and switched (red) wires are getting power.
make sure the harness for the radio is plugged in good too, and that you have a good solid ground.
