I installed my Compustar 2WSS-AS alarm Friday in about 5 hours and I just have a few questions. It's installed on a 04 Cavalier with Keyless Entry. I have everything hooked up except power locks and the remote start (RS i'll be doing later if i do it at all). For the - door trigger i have the drivers side and passenger side wires diode isolated. So all i need to hook up are the [power lock lt.blue(car wire), power unlock white(car wire), blue + lock output (alarm wire) and blue/black -lock output(alarm wire)]. Blue doubles as a -unlock output and blue/black doubles as a +unlock output (info. from alarm wiring installation manual). Also I have a question on the Orange/black (drivers door proirity unlock) wire from the alarm. I was told i would need convert this wire with a relay? So do i convert the polarity? If so which way - to + or + to -. Also does this wire connect to the my Unlock motor (tan) from my car? Could you guys give me the correct wires i need to hook these wires too and also if i need any relays how should they be hooked up. Thanks Replies (12) UKinstaller on 07/13/2005 01:24:18 hmmmm not too familiar with compustar alarms, but i know that you should never need to tap into the lock or unlock motor wires when doing an alarm install. just the actual lock/unlock wires. what exactly is drivers door priority unlock?? also, are your door locks positive or negative?? -UK lessismorespl on 07/13/2005 08:12:01 You really do not need that, all it is for is isolating the drivers door so you can unlock the drivers door only. The relay and effort to do this is kind of a hassle, and it is something that is not really needed. I believe Compustar is the only one that has this feature. You do not need to reverse the polarity, but you will need the relay if you really want to install the driver priority door unlock. less swez on 07/13/2005 09:43:46 Glad to see that someone still in the game... can't stay away? That's all good! (wink) Swez ttocs on 07/13/2005 11:20:41 I have priority unlocking on my truck with my old dei sidewinder 7000. I did it as I was bored and it was not too hard as I had to install actuators for power locks. Alot of chryslers have a second unlock relay that you can tap, but I don't think gm does... ryan2 on 07/13/2005 13:34:54 So its like oem factory keyless entry in a sense? Press unlock once and it just unlocks the drivers side and press it twice to unlock drivers and passenger door? If so i dont care if i have it. But i would like to have my keyless entry back so i dont have to use my alarm and factory keyless enty. Are these the wires i need to hook up to have it. If so do i connect them to a relay as Reverse Polarity door locks? Thanks for all the help. I wouldnt be able to do it without you guys. ttocs on 07/13/2005 20:42:25 it is set up to run actuators with no relays needed, that is what reverse polarity locks are. You have two wires, they are common to all the lock motors. Put + on one and - on the other and it will lock, do the opposit and it will unlock. I don't have the tech sheet for the car with me. GM normally uses a satalite relay pack that is easily found by hitting lock er unlock and listening for the relay clicks. It is a small black package,(try pass under the glove box?) with a white, black, orange, blue wires and a couple of others. The wires you need are on either end of the hrns. The relay package normally uses a posative trigger from the alarm to lock or unlock, just depends on which wire you hit. Locate the relay pack and use your test light or voltmeter to make sure that the wires show +12v when you lock or unlock. ryan2 on 07/15/2005 15:43:07 Thanks ttocs. I listen for the relay clicks. On the drivers side theres a small box with 4 wires coming out of it and it clicks when i press unlock and theres a harness type looking thing on the passenger side with the wires you listened and it clicks when i press lock. Im going to try the pass. side thing and see if it works ryan2 on 07/15/2005 19:25:30 Ok i need help. I had to hook it up to a relay as a reversal ground. I had it all working . so i started to hide wires and cut wires to length. Well as i was finishing up and tried the locks they wouldnt work. They unlock but dont lock now. They lock with my oem remote so i switched to all new relays. When i was cutting wires and reconnecting i think i may have accidently put some in the wrong place so i just redid everything. Could i of fried the lock ouput on my alarm? If so is there a way to fix it cuz its not under warranty? ryan2 on 07/16/2005 15:54:25 I just went out side to see what the wires were reading on the relay. On the lock relay 87,86, and 85 show 12 volts and when i hit lock 85 jumps up a little in volts from 11....V to 12...V. On the unlock relay 87,86, and 85 show 12v. When i hit unlock 86 goes from 12v to 0 then back up. ryan2 on 07/16/2005 22:01:16 bump ttocs on 07/20/2005 00:44:31 sorry, been away a while... no body else to help? try tapping the side of the coil(85 er 86) that is not wired to +12v to a grounded surface. That is all the alarm does to get the relay to trip. If it does click and hit the locks then you need to trace the output back up to the alarm. 85 on the lock relay should show 12v until it get hit, then it goes to ground. ttocs on 07/20/2005 22:47:22 bump Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
