somewhat off-topic, but may be fun and get a laugh

All of us installers have run into the DIY'er, the audio know-it-all'er, and many other types. After a several years you see them all. So I thought it would be fun to share a few of my past experiences......first lets start w/ the Top 5 things that irk me w/ customers:

1. "I would have done it myself but I just do not have time" then sets around the shop for 3 hours while I do it.

2. "Here let me show you a better way to do this" Why is he having me do all this work if he knows so much!

3. "I did not touch a thing, the subs just blew up" I write all my amps settings and tuning down when I install a system, so you are telling me that you did not turnt he gain all the way up and tunr the crossovers to 20 hz, and the subsonic filter to 60 hz, and set every setting on your EQ to it's highest point? "Well my buddy made a few adjustemtns b/c he said he could make it louder"

4. "I do not think you know what you are doing b/c I watched my friend install my other friend's amp and I know he knows what he is doing, he goes to college and stuff" So why not have him install your stuff then!

5. "I don't need it installed, I can do it myself" 3 hours later, "Hey you sold me a bunk amp, it don't work or nothing" Hmmmm, the RCA's are plugged into the output, the power wire is 4 ga and the ground is 10 ga, not to mention the it is grounded to the rear deck w/ the amp about 2 inches from one of the 6x9's magnets, and there were 2 4ohm DVC subs wired in parallel then bridged on a 4ohm stable 2 ch. amp......"You gonna honor the warranty?".....

A guy came in the other day and could not figure out why his HU kept heating up and cutting out, come to find out, he had 4 6x9's on his rear deck wired to the head unit on the rear speaker output wires, then he had 2 horns from house speakers, plus 6 tweeters running off the front speaker output wires, then he had the rear and front preouts run into both inputs on a 4 channel amp w/ 4 DVC 10's bridged to one side of the amp. Hmmmm

"My friend has the same system in his Sunfire and it is twice as loud, why is'nt it loud in my full size suburban?"

"I can't find the battery in my BMW!!!!"

So many I just can't keep typing them all. I wonder if any installers have some stories to share....maybe some-one has one I have yet to experience.....

Gentleman!

This is not what CK is about. We are here to assist others in their quest for a great sound system in a given install. As we do this, sadly we do have personality conflicts. However, this is getting too personal and not at all productive. Airing ones "dirty laundry" or personal grudges on the forum is not what we do at CK.

To that end, going to delete all that pertains to this issue off the board. If either feels a need to keep up the ruckus, do it privately. (Off this Site) This is not what CK is about and we have taken great pride to nip these things in the bud ASAP. It's not gonna continue ... Not On My Watch!

Look, I don't expect everybody to mesh like peanut butter & jelly. But this kind of thing, can destroy a good site if allowed to persist. Again, we can choose to agree... that we simply do not agree on some matters. It's not that I am taking sides in the matter either. Don't know what was said, how it was heard and really don't much care. It's just a dispute that is better left off the site.

In short, put it down, count to 10 and move on to something more productive. Spilled milk, water over the dam, an old shoe that serves little purpose... put it aside and move forward.

Thanks for your full cooperation in advance,
Swez
