installer's note

Just thought I would share this one with you since I have seen three of these so far.. The new (05) hondas are using cables much like the hood release or throttle cables on their door locks instead of the old 'bars'. I spent over 2 hours trying to figure out if I could install actuators on this type of system. I finally figured out a way that is pretty fast and easy, and I thought I would share it with the fellow installers.
All I had to do was hammer out a flat spot in the rod that comes with the actuator and drill and tap a hole through both the rod and the brass transition piece where the cable meets the plastic lock knob. a small screw holds it in place just fine. You will have to cut out part of the front of the plastic jacket that holds this brass piece in order to attach the push rod to it. For a little extra I added a touch of JB weld to the threads.
For some reason there are alot of new hondas on the market and the streets with out keyless entry or power door locks this year.
