whats up everybody, I recently installed a pioneer deh1700 HU into my 87 buick lesabre (maroon w/ maroon interiors - PIMP) anyway I dont know too much about car audio but consider myself a pretty smart guy. The problem is the radio reception. im in nyc where reception is very strong and as the car moves its just f ucking up. CD works fine. When I installed it, coming out of the wiring harness were 2 wires that I did not connect to my deck. I just taped up the ends. DIMMER and POWER ANTENNA. Obviously the power antenna needs to go to something? Maybe just have it touch the ground wire?! any help would be really appreciated. thanks. Does it have an ant that would rise up from the car when you turn the radio on? swez on 07/7/2005 17:05:06 Right, does your car have a working power antenna? If so, that one wire (Blue) is the trigger to a relay that raises and lowers the power antenna. If the power antenna does not go up when HU is in AM/FM mode, you will get very poor reception. If your car does not have a power antenna, the blue wire is not needed. Poor reception could mean a poor antenna ground or coaxial line is in need of replacement. Swez PS We run a PG site at CK.
