i dont know. i know recently the fuse blew (i dont know which one, but the car would not start). so i thought it was the battery cause i had accidentally left the headlights on all day. so i went to get a jump from another car but my car still wouldnt turn on, and then someone told me i need a new fuse so i did get it and finally the car turned on and worked again. but then now the stereo doesnt work! everything else, the air and the cigarette lighter and stuff works, but the stereo wont turn on. and the stereo/cd player is usually left on..like when i start the car it comes on. if it has anything to do with jumping the battery and having the stereo on at the same time then i dont know what it is. cause i didnt jump the car, 2 other ppl did and i dont know oif they had shut the stereo off while doing that. so what can i do now??? btw its like a 1993-1995 im not sure, honda civic and its some kenwood stereo/cd thats in there. Replies (4) ttocs on 07/2/2005 20:11:53 does the dome light work? Check all the fuses, and I mean ALL(under the hood?). I will normally go down the line with a test light. lessismorespl on 07/3/2005 08:41:19 Yes, you need to check all your fuses, including the ones in the main relay box under the hood. Just b/c certain components work, does not mean you did not blow a fuse, more often than not on the late model vehicles, the radio is run on a seperate fuse than anything else. Back n the day, we had to wire one of the empty fuse terminals to install the aftermarket radios b/c everything was hard wired. Also check the fuse on the back of the radio, sometimes they blow also. cc1693 on 07/6/2005 09:27:29 The simplest fix will be to pull the deck out and disconnect power for a few minutes, then reconnect. This should reset the deck and make everything work like it did before. This is a common problem after jump starts. good luck. swez on 07/6/2005 09:34:37 Same idea... but less effort. Disconnect the Neg BAT terminal for a minute or two, then reconnect and see if that restores all functions. Yes, all programed stations will be erased and any other menu setting as well. But those are easy things to reset. Speaking of resets, some HU's have a hidden reset button or feature on them. Look at your manual for any details related to resetting the HU. Is this a factory HU or Aftermarket? Make and model # of HU would be helpful if an aftermarket system. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
